HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration to Honorary Captain R. M. Irvine, Reserve of Officers.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Ellerslie Town District, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

ELLERSLIE TOWN BOARD.
Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan of £29,000.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Ellerslie Town District taken on the 18th day of April, 1923, on the proposal of the Ellerslie Town Board to borrow the sum of £29,000 for the purpose of, according as may be deemed requisite or necessary, the forming, metalling, bitumen-sealing, kerbing, channelling, or draining of storm-water in respect of the following streets and the footpaths therein in the Town District of Ellerslie—namely, Panmure Road, Queen Street, Ladies Mile, Railway Street, Jubilee Road, Robert Street, Albert Street, Railway Ramp, Arthur Street, Fowlds Street, Penrose Road, Lake Road, Morrin Street, Russell Crescent, Wilson Street, and Amy Street—the number of votes cast was as follows: For the proposal, 228; against the proposal, 161; informal, 7: total, 396.
And I hereby declare that such proposal was carried.
Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan of £13,500.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Ellerslie Town District taken on the 18th day of April, 1923, on the proposal of the Ellerslie Town Board to borrow the sum of £13,500 for the purchase of land and the erection thereon of municipal buildings, including offices and public hall, and the furnishing of the same, the number of votes cast was as follows: For the proposal, 176; against the proposal, 212; informal, 8: total, 396.
And I hereby declare that the said proposal was rejected.

THE following notices, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Wanganui, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Notices under Section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 26th day of April, 1923, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £100,000 for the following purposes—namely, the constructing, erecting, finishing, extending, and enlarging the present “waterworks” as defined by section 238 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, of the Borough of Wanganui, for the supply of water for the use of the inhabitants of the borough, and in particular the constructing, erecting, and finishing of the following works in connection with such “waterworks” (as above defined), that is to say, raising the Okehu Dam, duplicating the mid-section of pipe-line, completing the Westmere Reservoir, erecting a water-tower on Bastia Hill with pumping-station and connecting mains, the making of additions to, replacing, and supplying of mains and pipes, the supply of hydrants, the duplicating of the main between Virginia Lake and London Street, the purchasing or acquiring of lands, easements, or ways in connection with such construction, extension, and enlargement, and for all and every purpose incidental to, connected with, or relating to all or any of the purposes aforesaid—the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 1,355; against the proposal, 1,372; informal, 237.
I therefore declare the proposal carried.
I HEREBY publicly notify that at the poll taken on the 26th day of April, 1923, on the proposal of the Wanganui Borough Council to borrow the sum of £17,300 for the following purposes—namely, the constructing, making, erecting, and finishing of public baths within the Borough of Wanganui, the purchasing, acquiring, or otherwise providing of all such land, buildings, dressing-rooms, offices, appliances, and conveniences in connection with the establishment of such baths as are necessary to enable the inhabitants of the borough to use and enjoy such baths; the providing of all necessary mains, pipes, or other means of conveying water to such baths; the providing of all necessary machines, engines, pumps, apparatus, and appliances for generating and supplying heat to such baths, and the purification of the water of such baths by aeration and filtration or other means; and the supplying, furnishing, and providing of all other apparatus, appliances, and things necessary, convenient, or desirable for all or any of the purposes aforesaid—the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 1,147; against the proposal, 1,602; informal, 226.
I therefore declare the proposal lost.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Invercargill, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF INVERCARGILL.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that upon a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Invercargill taken on the 26th day of April, 1923, on a proposal of the Borough Council to borrow the sum of £12,500 for the construction of public baths, the number of votes for the proposal was 1,713, and the number of votes against the proposal was 1,618.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Rangitaiki Land Drainage District.—Penalty on Overdue Rates.

Wellington, 27th April, 1923.
IN pursuance of section 28 of the Rating Amendment Act, 1910, and the regulations under the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent. additional will be added to all rates for the year ended 31st March, 1923, unpaid on the 15th June, 1923.
Rates may be paid at any money-order office, or to the “Collector of Rates,” Box 1659, Auckland.

Revoking Portion of By-laws regulating Traffic on Portion of the Main South Road, Westland County, between Ross and Waiho.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, the Minister of Public Works, do hereby revoke clause 3 of by-law No. 1 of the by-laws dated the 15th day of January, 1923, regulating traffic on portion of the Main South Road, Westland County, between Ross and Waiho, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 5, of the 18th day of January, 1923.
