Notifying Land in Otago Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and twenty-six of the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Monday, the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, as the time at which the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

SUBURBAN LAND.

Town of Cromwell.

SECTIONS 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13, and 14, Block LIV: Area of each section, 1 rood; upset price of each section, £3.

The sections are partly within the sand area of Cromwell.

Town of Ettrick.

Sections 12 and 13, Block XI: Area, 3 acres 2 roods; upset price, £17 10s.

Level land of fair quality, suitable for building and for fruitgrowing. Situated close to Ettrick School and post-office.

Town of Arrowtown Extension.

Section 1, Block XXXV: Area, 4 acres 2 roods 16 perches; upset price, £10.

Weighted with £4, valuation for fencing.

Situated within the Borough of Arrowtown, on the bank of the Arrow River, about three miles from the post-office by a good road.

The land is fairly level. The soil is a light sandy nature, on a rock formation.

Section 2, Block XXXV: Area, 4 acres 2 roods 38 perches; upset price, £15.

Weighted with £5, valuation for two-roomed house.

Situated in the Borough of Arrowtown, on the bank of the Arrow River, about three miles from the post-office. Good access. More than half the area is good land, balance poor and stony. Soil a light loam, on schist formation; not well watered.

TOWN LAND.

City of Dunedin.—Township of Cranston.

Section 35: Area, 22·9 perches; upset price, £95.

This section is fairly level; would make a good building-site; it lies within three minutes walk of the electric tram.

Opening Lands in the Marlborough Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the ninth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Marlborough County.—Tennyson Survey District.

SECTION 3, Block II: Area, 433 acres 3 roods. Capital value, £1,735. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £43 7s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £34 14s.

Section 4, Block II: Area, 298 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £918. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £22 19s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £18 7s. 3d.

Section 9, Block II: Area, 376 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £1,252. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £31 6s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £25 0s. 10d.

Situated in the Upper Opouri Valley, Tennyson Survey District, and distant about seven miles from the main Blenheim–Nelson Road, and from a dairy factory, access to which is by a formed 12 ft. road to the southern end of the block. The river-flats and sidellings were originally covered with heavy bush, from which the milling-timber has now been removed. The standing bush is of mixed nature, but the greater part is birch. Portions of the flats have been burnt, and sown with English grasses, and all sections will be found to be well watered, with good building-sites and boundaries on good fencing-lines. The country rises from easy to steep slopes of from 300 ft. to 2,700 ft. above sea-level; the flat and easy parts will be found well suitable for dairying, and the hilly parts good healthy sheep-country.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the fifteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Waitemata County.—Paremoremo Parish.

SECTION 246: Area, 23 acres 3 roods 30 perches. Capital value, £75. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1 17s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 10s. Weighted with £24 10s., valuation for improvements consisting of fencing, and a shed 9 ft. by 15 ft.

Altitude 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Steep broken country, more or less ploughable; covered in fern and manuka. The section has a westerly aspect. The soil varies from a loam of fair quality to a poor clay, resting on clay formation; poorly watered by swampy gullies, probably dry in summer. The section is situated on the ridge road between Riverhead and Albany. Access is from Riverhead, which is about two miles and a half distant by a formed road.

Section 325: Area, 19 acres 1 rood 13 perches. Capital value, £240. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £6. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4 16s. Weighted with £19, valuation for improvements consisting of nineteen chains fencing.

Altitude, 50 ft. to 100 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land. all ploughable, 14 acres in fern, manuka, and gorse. The soil varies from a heavy loam to a poor clay, resting on clay formation; watered by a swampy creek, probably dry in summer. Access is from Albany, one mile and a quarter distant by a formed road, one mile of which is metalled. Albany has a good daily motor service to Birkenhead, and a good launch service with Auckland.

Otamatea County.—Mangawai Parish.

Section 243: Area, 134 acres 0 roods 34 perches. Capital value, £290. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £7 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 16s.

Section 252: Area, 117 acres. Capital value, £240. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £6. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4 16s.
