The foregoing special order, having been passed at a
special meeting held on 20th November, 1922, public notice
whereof and of the proposal to submit same for confirmation

Special Order made by the Mongonui County Council altering Riding Boundaries and adjusting Representation.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 6th March, 1923.

THE following special order, made by the Mongonui
County Council, is published in accordance with the
provisions of the Counties Act, 1920.

Pursuant to section 100 of that Act, as amended by sec-
tion 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921-22, I hereby
fix the 31st day of March, 1923, as the date from which the
special order shall take effect.

SPECIAL ORDER.

RIDING BOUNDARIES.

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of
the Counties Act, 1920, the Mongonui County Council re-
solves, by way of special order, as follows :—

(1.) The present division of the County of Mongonui into
seven ridings is revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county
shall be divided into eight ridings, to be called respectively
Hohoura Riding, Awanui Riding, Oruru Riding, Mongonui
Riding, Victoria Valley Riding, Kaitaia Riding, Ahipara
Riding, and Herekino Riding, which said ridings are re-
spectively described in the Schedule hereto.

(2.) The said Mongonui County Council shall consist of
eight members, who shall be elected as follows : The electors
of the said ridings shall each elect one Councillor.

SCHEDULE.

Hohoura Riding.

All that area in the North Auckland Land District com-
mencing at a point on the Awanui River being the north-
eastern corner of the Rotoroa Kauri-gum Reserve Extension,
situated in Blocks I and II, Ahipara Survey District, and
Blocks I and V, Takahue Survey District. Bounded towards
the south by the said Rotoroa Kauri-gum Reserve Extension
to and across a public road, and again by the aforesaid
Rotoroa Kauri-gum Reserve Extension and the production
of its northern boundary to the sea; towards the south-
west, west, north and north-east, and east generally by the
sea to the confluence of the Awanui River with the sea;
then ce towards the east generally by the centre of the said
Awanui River to a point in line with the northern boundary
of the aforesaid Rotoroa Kauri-gum Reserve Extension;
and thence by a right line to the north-east corner of the
said Rotoroa Kauri-gum Reserve Extension, being the point
of commencement.

Awanui Riding.

All that area in the North Auckland Land District com-
mencing at the northernmost corner of the Okokori or
Awapoko Native Block, situated in Block IX, Rangaunu
Survey District. Bounded towards the east generally by
the said Okokori or Awapoko Native Block to and across
the Aurere Creek by O.L.C. 9 to and across a public road,
and again by O.L.C. 9 to and by a public road to the
confluence of the Parapara and Koturetawhenua Stream;
then ce by the centre of the last-mentioned public road to a
point in line with the production of the north-western
boundary of Allotment N. 34, Taipa Parish, by a right line
to the northernmost corner of the said Allotment N. 34, and
by that allotment and Allotments M. 34, S.M. 34, and
N.E. 32, all of Taipa Parish, to the north-east corner of
Section 4, Block XIII, Rangaunu Survey District; thence
towards the south generally by the said Section 4 to the
centre of a public road, and by the centre of that public road to
a point in line with the production of the northern boundary
of Section 5A, Block III, Takahue Survey District, by a
right line to the north-east corner of the said Section 5A,
and by that section to and across the Mangatete Stream to
the centre of a road reserve along the said stream, by the
centre of the aforesaid road reserve to its junction with
two other public roads; and thence by the centre of the
public road which forms the western boundary of Section 1,
Block III, Takahue Survey District, to the northern boundary
of Section 7, Block III, Takahue Survey District, by the said
Section 7 and Section 2, Block III aforesaid, to and across a
public road, by Section 3s, Upokonui Settlement, to a public
road, and by that public road where it forms the boundaries
of Sections 2s and 1s, Upokonui Settlement, to and across
its intersection with another public road; and again by the
aforementioned public road forming the boundary of Sec-
tion 1s aforesaid to its junction with another public road, by
a right line across said road junction to the north-eastern
corner of Allotment N.W. 22, Mangatete Parish, and thence
by the last-mentioned public road where it forms the
northern boundary of Allotments N.W. 22, S.E. 21, and
N.W. 21, all of Mangatete Parish, to and across its intersec-
tion with another public road; thence by the aforementioned
public road where it forms the north-western boundary of
Allotments 23, N.E. 20, S.W. 20, and 16 E.R., all of Manga-
tete Parish, to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned
allotment; thence by the said Allotment 16 E.R. and Allot-
ment 15 of the said Mangatete Parish to and across a public
road, and by Allotments N. 7 and S. 7 of the aforesaid
parish to a public road; thence by the said public road
and Lot 1 shown on plan No. 14879 deposited at
the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland,
by the abutment of a public road, and by Lot 1
shown on plan No. 15252 deposited as aforesaid to the
north-western corner of the last-mentioned Lot 1; thence
by Allotment 18, Awanui Parish, to and across a public
road, and again by the last-mentioned Allotment 18 and
Allotment 7, Awanui Parish, to and across a public road, by
Lot 30 also of the aforesaid Awanui Parish, part O.L.C. 193,
to and across a drain reserve, and again by part O.L.C. 193
to and across a public road, and again by part O.L.C. 193
to a small stream, and by the said stream to the Hohoura
Riding boundary hereinbefore described; and then toward
the west generally by the said Hohoura Riding boundary to
the sea; and thence towards the west, north, and north-east
generally by the sea (including the Okatakata and Omaia
Islands) to the northernmost corner of the Okokori or
Awapoko Native Block, being the point of commencement.

Oruru Riding.

All that area in the North Auckland Land District, com-
mencing at the northernmost corner of the Okokori or
Awapoko Native Block, situated in Block IX, Rangaunu
Survey District. Bounded towards the north by the sea
to its confluence with the Taipa River, thence towards the
east generally by the centre of the said Taipa River to its
confluence with the Oruru River and the Paranui Stream;
then ce by the centre of the said Paranui Stream to and
across a public road, and by the said public road to the
south-western corner of Allotment 3A, Oruru Parish; thence
by that allotment and Allotment 1, Oruru Parish, to the
centre of the Oruru – Taipa Road; thence by the centre of
that road to its intersection with the Mangonui – Oruru
Road, by the centre of the said Mangonui – Oruru Road to
a point in line with the south-western corner of Allotment 20,
Mangonui Parish, by a right line to the said corner of the
aforesaid Allotment 20, and thence by that allotment and
Allotment 137 of the last-mentioned parish, and by Allot-
ments N.W. 5, M. 5, S.E. 5, to and across a public road,
and by Allotments W. 7 and E. 7, all of Waitarau Parish,
to the north-western boundary of Section 1, Block II,
Maungataniwha Survey District; by the said Section 1 to
and across a public road and the Te Awapuku Stream to
the Mangonui County boundary as described in the New
Zealand Gazette, 1918, page 1685; thence towards the
south-east generally by the said Mangonui County boundary
to a point in line with the production of the eastern boundary
of Allotment 183, Maungataniwha Parish; thence towards
the west generally by a right line to the south-eastern
corner of the aforesaid Lot 183, and by that allotment to the
centre of a public road, by the centre of the last-mentioned
public road to a point in line with the production of the
easternmost corner of Allotment 25, Maungataniwha Parish,
