  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,—

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.

(d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908.

Provided always that the Stipendiary Stewards’ Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Otaki Maori Racing Club were made and passed by such club on the 3rd day of February, 1923, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

STOPPING ROAD IN BLOCK XI, TIFFIN SURVEY DISTRICT, TOWNSHIP OF CARTERTON.

IN pursuance of the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, I, Thomas Victor Moore, the Chairman of the County of Wairarapa South, do hereby give public notice that, pursuant to the consent of His Excellency the Governor-General in Council given on the 12th day of February, 1923, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 16, of 15th February, 1923, the Council of the said county has ordered that the road described in the Schedule hereto be stopped, and that the said road is now stopped accordingly.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

WE, ERNEST BOOCK and HERBERT THORNTON RICHARDSON, hereby give notice that the Partnership hitherto subsisting between us in the business of Dentists under the firm name of “The Dental Institute” at No. 43 Courtenay Place, Wellington, has been dissolved as from the 23rd day of January, 1923. The said business will in future be carried on under the same name by the said ERNEST BOOCK at the same address.

AVONDALE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION LEVYING SPECIAL RATE AS SECURITY FOR WATER LOAN OF £1,000.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Avondale Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest and also the other charges on a loan of £1,000, authorized to be raised by the Avondale Borough Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for supplying, erecting, and providing waterworks, reticulation services, and all necessary appliances in and for the benefit of the defined part of the Borough of Avondale hereinafter mentioned, the Avondale Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-twentieth of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the water-reticulation area as defined by advertisement in the Avondale News newspaper on the 16th day of October, 1920, being a special rating area duly constituted under the said Act; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 15th day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

TAURANGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.—ELECTRIC LOAN, £90,000.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Tauranga Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £90,000, authorized to be raised by the Tauranga Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for hydro-electric works at McLaren’s Falls, Wairoa River, the said Tauranga Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3s. 6d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Tauranga, comprising the whole of the Borough of Tauranga; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the
