BOROUGH OF TE AWAMUTU.

DECLARATION OF POLL ON PROPOSAL TO ADOPT SYSTEM OF
RATING ON THE UNIMPROVED VALUES.

PURSUANT to section 39 of the Rating Act, 1908, I
hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of
the Borough of Te Awamutu taken on the 14th day of
February, 1923, on the proposal that the system of rating
in the said borough be on the unimproved value, the number
of votes recorded for the proposal was 120, and the number
of votes recorded against the proposal was 198.

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LANDS FOR TRAMWAY
PURPOSES IN THE CITY OF DUNEDIN.

In the matter of the Tramways Act, 1908, and in the matter
of the Public Works Act, 1908.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of
Dunedin proposes, under the provisions of the Tramways
Act, 1908, to take under the provisions of the Public Works
Act, 1908, the lands mentioned and described in the Schedule
hereto, for the purpose of the Dunedin and Roslyn Tramway
in the City of Dunedin. And notice is hereby further given
that a plan showing the lands required to be taken, together
with the owners and occupiers of such lands so far as they
can be ascertained, is deposited in the office of the Town Clerk,
Town Hall, situate in the Octagon in the said city, and is open
for public inspection (without fee) by all persons during
ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the
taking of the said lands shall, if they have any well-grounded
objection to the taking of such lands, set forth the same in
writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the
first publication of this notice, to the said City Council
addressed to the Town Clerk at the offices of such Council,
situate in the Octagon aforesaid.

SCHEDULE.

All that piece or parcel of land containing 10·75 poles, being
part of a right-of-way marked “A” on Land Transfer plan
No. 1217, and being also parts of Sections Seven (7) and
Eight (8), Block Four (IV), Upper Kaikorai District, and
coloured red on the plan deposited in the office of the Town
Clerk aforesaid.

HAWKINS LOBB PATENT SADDLE COMPANY (LIMITED), in
Liquidation, will be held at 23 Shortland Street, Auckland,
on the 13th day of February, 1923, at 3 o’clock, for the
purpose of having laid before the meeting the account of the
Liquidator showing the manner in which the winding-up has
been conducted and the property of the company disposed
of, and of hearing any explanations thereof given by the

name of Jens Sand, of Taumarunui, Sawmill Hand,
hereby give public notice that on the 25th day of January,
1923, I formally and absolutely renounced and relinquished
and abandoned the use of my said Christian name and
surname of Jens Sand, and then assumed and adopted and
determined thenceforth on all occasions whatsoever to use
and subscribe the name of Harry Mason instead of the said
name of Jens Sand. And I give further notice that by a
deed-poll dated the 25th day of January duly executed and
attested and enrolled in the Hamilton Registry of the Supreme
Court of New Zealand on the 31st day of January, 1923, I
formally and absolutely renounced and abandoned the said
Christian name and surname of Jens Sand, and declared that
I had assumed and adopted and intended thenceforth upon
all occasions whatsoever to use and subscribe the name of
Harry Mason instead of Jens Sand, and so as to be at all
times thereafter called, known, and described by the name
of HARRY MASON exclusively.

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of
the Otaki Maori Racing Club at a meeting held on the
3rd day of February, 1923, at Otaki, with a recommendation
by the Chairman of such club, Mr. B. Ling, that the same be
passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excell-
ency the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act,
1908, section 33.

Mr. Ben Ling, the Chairman of such club and the meeting,
moved, and Mr. Ruihi Wehipeihana seconded, and it was
resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that
the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same
in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to :-

OTAKI MAORI RACING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf
contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of
all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the
Otaki Maori Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of
the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”),
doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 1st day of
March, 1919, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the
following regulations controlling the admission of persons to
that part of the Otaki Maori Club’s Racecourse situated in
the district of Wellington, and known as the Otaki Maori
Racing Club’s Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used
or occupied by the said club for race meetings.
