Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in the Town of Apiti,
Wellington Land District.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
has been duly set apart for a site for a public hall,
being a purpose within Class I of the Second Schedule of the
Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and such land is not
vested in trust in any society, body corporate, or trustee :
And whereas it is expedient that such land should be
appropriated for a public-recreation ground, being a purpose
within Class III of the said Second Schedule :
Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exer-
cise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the
eleventh section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act,
1908, do by this notification declare that the said land shall,
from and after the twenty-eighth day of February, one
thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, be appropriated for
a public recreation-ground under Class III of the Public
Reserves and Domains Act, 1908 ; and I do hereby direct
that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand
Gazette.

SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.
SECTION 100, Town of Apiti: Area, 1 rood.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 15th day of February, 1923.

Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the Hawke’s
Bay Land District for other Land.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-two of
the Land Act, 1908, as amended by section six of
the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1920, it is enacted that it
shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems
it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple
any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of
the Land Act, 1908, in exchange for the fee-simple of any
other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any
sum by way of equality of exchange :
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it
is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the
First Schedule hereto for the land of equal value described
in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land
described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such ex-
change :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid
powers and authorities, doth hereby declare that it is his
intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land
described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the
fee-simple of land described in the Second Schedule.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF CROWN LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE
EXCHANGED.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing
by admeasurement 6 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less,
being Section 1, Block XII, Porangahau Survey District.
As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 21/88,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey,
at Wellington, and thereon bordered blue.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE
THEREFOR.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing
by admeasurement 6 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less,
being Subdivision 1 of Part Subdivision Section 75, Block XII,
Porangahau Survey District. As the same is delineated on
the plan marked L. and S. 21/88, deposited in the Head Office,
Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon
bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 19th day of February, 1923.

Opening Lands in Otago Land District for Sale or Selection.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report
of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by
section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do
hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule
hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the
ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-
three ; and also that the lands mentioned in the said
Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased
for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of pur-
chase, or on renewable lease ; and I do hereby also fix the
prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or
leased as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do
declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased
under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Bruce County.—Clarendon Survey District.

SECTION 15, Block XI: Area, 27 acres 3 roods 39 perches.
Capital value, £21. Occupation with right of purchase :
Half-yearly rent, 10s. 6d. Renewable lease : Half-yearly
rent, 8s. 5d.

Section 16, Block XI: Area, 25 acres 3 roods 35 perches.
Capital value, £20. Occupation with right of purchase :
Half-yearly rent, 10s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, 8s.

The sections are weighted with valuation for improvements
as follows : Section 15, £108 9s. ; Section 16, £51 14s.

Situated about a mile and a half from Taieri Mouth Post-
office, three to four miles from school, and about seven miles
from Waihola Railway-station on the Southern Trunk Railway.
The land is of inferior quality, the surface being rough and
broken.

Clutha County.—Woodlands Survey District.

Section 7, Block VII: Area, 21 acres 3 roods. Capital
value, £15. Occupation with right of purchase : Half-yearly
rent, 7s. 6d. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, 6s.

Situated a mile and a quarter from Tarara School and
cheese-factory, and four miles and a half from Ratanui and
Houipapa Railway-stations. The soil is of fair quality (peaty
in places), resting on a rotten-rock formation ; well watered
by running streams. There is a surveyed road to section,
but it is not formed.

Opening Town Lands in Otago Land District for Selection on
Renewable Lease.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the
town lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open
for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the ninth
day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-
three, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule ; and
I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under
and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Town of Bastings.

SECTIONS 1, 2, 48, 49, and 50, Block I: Area, 1 acre 1 rood
14 perches ; capital value, £10 ; half-yearly rent, 5s.

Weighted with £2 2s., valuation for fencing.

Situated in Bastings Town, about four miles and a half
from Beaumont, the present terminus of the Lawrence-
Roxburgh Railway.

The soil is of very fair quality, resting on a clay subsoil.

Town of Alexandra.

Section 8, Block XXXVII: Area, 10 acres 3 roods 12 per-
ches. Capital value, £110. Half-yearly rent, £2 15s.

Weighted with £3 5s., valuation for fencing.

Open level land, with a light soil on a shingle subsoil.
Formerly part of Alexandra racecourse. Situated within a
few chains of Alexandra Railway-station. Altitude about
450 ft. above sea-level.

General, this 19th day of February, 1923.
