thousand five hundred pounds, may be borrowed be reduced
to twenty years, and the rate of interest payable thereon be
not exceeding six per centum per annum:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the term
for which the Raupo Drainage Board may borrow the said
sum of two thousand five hundred pounds shall be twenty
years, and the rate of interest payable thereon shall be a
rate not exceeding six per centum per annum, and the said
Raupo Drainage Board is hereby authorized to borrow the
said sum of two thousand five hundred pounds accordingly.

Prohibiting Trawling in a Portion of Hawke's Bay.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 12th day of
February, 1923.

Present:

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the fifth day of
May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 46, of the thirteenth
day of the same month, regulations were made prohibiting
the taking of fish by trawling and the use of trawl-nets in a
portion of Hawke's Bay:

And whereas it is desirable to revoke the said regulations
and to make others in lieu thereof:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority conferred upon him by section five
of the Fisheries Act, 1908 (hereinafter called "the said Act"),
and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that
behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke
the hereinbefore-recited regulations of the fifth day of May,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and doth hereby
make the following regulations in lieu thereof, for the purposes
of the said Act.

REGULATIONS.

  1. No person shall haul or use a trawl-net for the purpose
    of taking fish in that portion of Hawke's Bay inside the
    following lines--viz., a straight line drawn from the eastern
    bank at the mouth of the Tukituki River to the eastern
    extreme of Ahuriri Bluff, and thence to the northern bank
    at the mouth of the Esk River; such lines being shown in
    red on plan marked M.D. 5627, and deposited in the office of
    the Marine Department at Wellington, in the Provincial
    District of Wellington.

  2. Any person committing a breach of the above regulation
    is liable to a penalty of not less than £1 and not exceeding
    £20.

Regulations with regard to the Taking and Sale of Quinnat
Salmon (Oncorhynchus Tschawytscha).

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 12th day of
February, 1923.

Present:

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by sections eighty-three and ninety-
four of the Fisheries Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations with
regard to the taking and sale of quinnat salmon (Oncorhynchus
tschawytscha); and doth hereby order and declare that the
said regulations shall have force and effect throughout the
said Dominion.

REGULATIONS.

  1. It shall be unlawful for any person to take salmon in any
    year during the period from the 1st day of May to the 30th
    day of September, both days inclusive, which period is hereby
    declared to be a close season for such fish.

  2. During the period from the date of this Order in Council
    until the 30th day of April, 1923, anglers licensed by any
    acclimatization society within the Dominion to fish for trout
    may fish for salmon and dispose by sale of any salmon so taken.

  3. During the period from the date of this Order in Council
    until the 30th day of April, 1923, sea fishermen duly licensed
    by the Marine Department under the provisions of section 6
    of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and the regulations made there-
    under, may fish for and take salmon from the sea outside a
    radius of 500 yards from the mouth or entrance of any river,
    and dispose of the same by sale.

  4. Such anglers and fishermen shall, on or before the 21st
    day of May, 1923, forward to the Secretary, Marine Depart-
    ment, Wellington, a return, in such form as may be prescribed,
    of all salmon taken under the authority of these regulations.

  5. Any person committing a breach of these regulations
    shall be liable to a fine of £50.

Regulation for Whitebait Fishing in River Avon,
Canterbury.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of
February, 1923.

Present:

WHEREAS it is enacted by section five of the Fisheries
Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), that
the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in
Council gazetted, make regulations which shall have force
and effect throughout New Zealand, or only in such waters
and places as are specified in the regulations, for the purposes
therein specified:

And whereas it is desirable to make the regulation herein-
after set forth with respect to the taking of whitebait in the
Avon River, in the Provincial District of Canterbury:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the hereinbefore-recited power and authority, and of all other
powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following
regulation.

REGULATION.

It shall be lawful to use a lead or wing in conjunction with
each set-net used for taking whitebait in the Avon River, in
the Provincial District of Canterbury. Any such lead shall
commence at low-water mark of ordinary spring tides, and
shall extend for a distance of not more than 10 ft. therefrom
into the waters of the said river, at an angle of not more than
45° with the stream.

Remuneration of Examiners under Midwives Act, 1908.--(H. 70).

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 12th day of
February, 1923.

Present:

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred on him by the Midwives Act, 1908 (hereinafter
referred to as "the said Act"), His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe the following scale of
fees as remuneration to be paid to the examiners appointed
under the said Act:--

Medical Practitioner Examiners: Five guineas for setting
and correcting papers for not more than twenty
candidates, with one guinea for every ten or less
number of candidates in excess of that number; and
in addition half a guinea for each candidate examined
in the practical and oral examination.

Nurse Examiners: A minimum fee of one guinea for
not more than four candidates, and five shillings for
each candidate in excess of that number.
