Special Regulations for Deer-shooting, Wellington.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the following imported game—namely, red deer—may be taken or killed within the Wellington Acclimatization District, subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. NOTWITHSTANDING anything contained in the regulations made under the Animals Protection Act, 1908, dated 18th February, 1922, the secretary of the Wellington Acclimatization Society at Wellington, or any person or persons duly authorized in writing by such secretary, may, during the period hereinafter mentioned, kill red deer of either sex and of any age which, in the opinion of the said secretary or of the said authorized persons, should be destroyed either by reason of age, deformity, or other physical imperfection.

  2. Such deer may be destroyed as aforesaid from 14th November, 1922, to 31st January, 1923, both days inclusive.

  3. The head or antlers of any stag, or the venison or skins of any deer, taken or killed pursuant to this warrant may only be disposed of subject to the regulations made by Order in Council dated 3rd November, 1922, a copy of which is endorsed hereon.

  4. A return shall be furnished to the Minister of Internal Affairs by the said secretary within one calendar month after the expiry of the aforesaid period, and such return shall state the number and sexes of all red deer so destroyed as aforesaid, the dates and name of person by whom and the locality in which the deer were destroyed, and giving particulars of the disposal of the carcases and skins.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the following imported game—namely, red deer—may be taken or killed within the Nelson Acclimatization District, subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. NOTWITHSTANDING anything contained in the regulations made under the Animals Protection Act, 1908, dated 16th December, 1921, the secretary of the Nelson Acclimatization Society at Nelson, or any person or persons duly authorized in writing by such secretary, may, during the period hereinafter mentioned, kill red deer of either sex and of any age which, in the opinion of the said secretary or of the said authorized persons, should be destroyed either by reason of age, deformity, or other physical imperfection.

  2. Such deer may be destroyed as aforesaid from 9th November, 1922, to 30th December, 1922, both days inclusive.

  3. The head or antlers of any stag, or the venison or skins of any deer, taken or killed pursuant to this warrant may only be disposed of subject to the regulations made by Order in Council dated 3rd November, 1922, a copy of which is endorsed hereon.

  4. NOTWITHSTANDING anything contained in the regulations made under the Animals Protection Act, 1908, dated 3rd December, 1921, the secretary of the Southland Acclimatization Society at Invercargill, or any person or persons duly authorized in writing by such secretary, may, during the period hereinafter mentioned, kill red deer of either sex and of any age which, in the opinion of the said secretary or of the said authorized persons, should be destroyed either by reason of age, deformity, or other physical imperfection.

  2. Such deer may be destroyed as aforesaid from 9th November, 1922, to 30th December, 1922, both days inclusive.

Shooting Season for Godwits, License Fee, &c., Mangonui-Whangaroa Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the following native game—viz., godwits—may be killed within the Mangonui-Whangaroa Acclimatization District, comprising the counties of Mangonui and Whangaroa (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto), from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, to the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three (both days inclusive). And I do further notify that licenses to kill such native game within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings each, and that the Postmasters at Mangonui, Awanui, Fairburn’s, Kaeo, Saies, Waiharara, and Kaitaia are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.

Nothing in any license to take or kill godwits shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill godwits on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain.

SCHEDULE.

AREAS WHEREIN IMPORTED AND NATIVE GAME SHALL NOT BE KILLED.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the following native game—viz., godwits—may be killed within the Whangarei Acclimatization District, comprising the County of Whangarei and part of the County of Otamatea (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto), from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, to the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, both days inclusive. And I do further notify that licenses to kill such native game within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of ten shillings each; and the Postmasters at Aponga, Hikurangi, Kamo, Kiripaka, Limestone, Mangapai, Mangawai, Maungakaramea, Parakao, Parua Bay, Poroti, Ruakaka, Titoki, Waikiekie, Waipu, Whakapara, and Whangarei are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses.

Nothing in any license to take or kill godwits shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill godwits on lands actually
