to be Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Christchurch, for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1908, as from the 1st day of July, 1922.

to be Clerk of the Magistrates’ Courts at Waipawa and Waipukurau, for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1908, as from the 3rd day of July, 1922.

GEORGE HUTCHESON LANG

to be Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Palmerston North for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1908, and Sheriff for the district of Manawatu, and Deputy Registrar at Palmerston North of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, for the purposes of the Judicature Act, 1908, as from the 5th day of July, 1922.

to be the Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Dunedin West, for the purposes of the Legislature Act, 1908, as from the 7th day of July, 1922.

to be the Returning Officer for the Western Maori Electoral District, for the purposes of the Legislature Act, 1908, as from the 10th day of July, 1922.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Territorial Force.

1st N.Z. MOUNTED RIFLES REGIMENT.

Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry.

Captain [late Major, Reserve of Officers (temp.)] C. G. Hayter is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 9, with the rank of Major. Dated 26th May, 1922.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 45, of 8th June, 1922, relating to the above-named officer is hereby cancelled.

THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

William James Burnley Clapham to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), (4th Battery). Dated 1st June, 1922.

N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS.

Northern Depot.

Major V. Dunne (late N.Z. Post and Telegraph Corps) to be Major, with seniority as from the 11th December, 1918. Dated 27th June, 1922.

THE N.Z. INFANTRY.

The Auckland Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant F. D. Baxter (6th C. Battalion) is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 3rd July, 1922.

Lieutenant E. H. Crawford, M.M., is posted to the Retired List, under the provisions of General Headquarters Instruction No. 56/21. Dated 1st July, 1922.

The Wellington Regiment.

Captain W. S. Cooper (3rd Battalion) is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class II (b), R.D. 7. Dated 27th June, 1922.

The Canterbury Regiment.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (on probation):—

Charles Norman Page (1st Battalion). Dated 16th June, 1922.

Harold Page, D.C.M. (6th C. Battalion). Dated 30th June, 1922.

Lieutenant C. A. Lawn (5th C. Battalion) is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 10. Dated 29th June, 1922.

The Otago Regiment.

Captain M. McP. Watt to be Major (3rd C. Battalion). Dated 1st July, 1922.

Captain T. McCarroll, from the Reserve of Officers (temp.), to be Captain (7th C. Battalion), with seniority as from the 11th March, 1921. Dated 3rd July, 1922.

The undermentioned 2nd Lieutenants to be Lieutenants. Dated 7th July, 1922:—

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 92, of 27th October, 1921, relating to the posting of the above-named officer to the Retired List is hereby cancelled.

2nd Lieutenant M. Macaskill [late Unattached List (General List)] is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 4th September, 1919.

ERRATUM.

With reference to the notice appearing in the New Zealand Gazette No. 51, of 29th June, 1922, relating to the transfer of Lieutenant S. R. Crimp, N.Z. Staff Corps, to the Reserve of Officers, for the words “Dated 15th December, 1922,” read “Dated 15th December, 1921.”
