SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being part of Sections 141 and 143, Township of Ballance, Block III, Mangahao Survey District. Bounded towards the north by a road, 250 links; towards the east by Sections 142 and 144, 400 links; towards the south by Section 145, 250 links; and towards the west by the western halves of Sections 141 and 143, 400 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 22/732, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Vesting a Reserve in the Kawakawa Town Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 16th day of January, 1922.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been duly set apart as a site for a public library:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to vest the said reserve in the Kawakawa Town Board:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section four of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the Kawakawa Town Board, in trust, as a site for a public library.

SECTION 18, Block XVI, Town of Kawakawa: Area, 39 perches.

Regulations for Deer-shooting, Rotorua Acclimatization District (Rotoiti Red Deer Herd Area).

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting season in that part of the Rotorua Acclimatization District described in the First Schedule hereto, and the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license and the fee payable therefor.

REGULATIONS.

  1. RED-DEER stags may be taken or killed within part of the Rotorua Acclimatization District described in the First Schedule hereto from the 27th March, 1922, to the 27th April, 1922, both days inclusive.

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Government Tourist Agent at Rotorua, on payment of a license fee of £3, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations. The number of such licenses shall not exceed twelve; provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person. Should the applications exceed the number of licenses available, the issue of licenses may be determined by ballot.

  3. No licensee shall take or kill more than two stags, and no stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than ten points.

  4. Each licensee must give notice to the said Government Tourist Agent of the date on which it is his intention to stalk; such notice to be given, in writing or by telegram, two clear days before commencing to stalk.

  5. No hind or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  6. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  7. Regulations as to deer “tags,” per New Zealand Gazette No. 40, Vol. I, of 20th May, 1909, page 1408, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the Government Tourist Agent at Rotorua immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with the advice of number of deer shot.

  8. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not less than £5 nor exceeding £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area commencing at the Kaituna River at Lake Rotoiti; thence by that river to its intersection with the Tauranga County boundary, by that boundary and a right line in an easterly direction to the Tarawera River; thence by the Tarawera River to the bridge at the intersection of the Te Teko–Rotorua Road; thence by that road to the shore of Lake Rotoiti, and by the northerly shore of that lake to the place of commencement at the Kaituna River: excepting therefrom an area of one mile radius from the Okere Power-station, which is a sanctuary for all native and imported game.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

, of , having this day paid the sum of £ , is hereby authorized to take or kill two red-deer stags, of not less than ten points, within that part of the Rotorua Acclimatization District as described in the endorsement hereon from the day of , 1922, to the 27th day of April, 1922 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection Act, 1908, and all regulations thereunder in force within the said district.
