Regulations under the Naval Defence Act, 1913, amended.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 24th day of January, 1922.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by section twenty-five of the Naval Defence Act, 1913 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in that behalf, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby amend and supplement the regulations for the government and payment of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy made under the said Act by Order in Council of the twentieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, as shown in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
- ADD an additional regulation No. 9A, as follows:—
9A. For the purposes of the grant of allowances generally, Chaplains shall receive the rates applicable to the ranks shown below:—
Under 4 years’ seniority: As lieutenant of 4 years’ seniority.
Over 4 years’ seniority: As Lieutenant-Commander.
Over 8 years’ seniority: As Commander.
Over 15 years’ seniority: As Captain under 3 years’ seniority.
- In regulation No. 48, authorizing clothing gratuities payable on occasions specified, insert:—
(g.) To officers’ chief, 1st class and 2nd class stewards and cooks (direct entries), on £ s. d.

Regulations as to Travelling-expenses of Members of Local Railway Boards under the Local Railways Act, 1914.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 24th day of January, 1922.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Local Railways Act, 1914, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following additional regulations for the purposes of section thirty-four of the said Act.

REGULATIONS.
- INTERPRETATION.—“Board” means a Railway Board of a railway district duly constituted in accordance with the provisions of the Local Railways Act, 1914.
“Member” means a member of a Board duly elected or appointed in accordance with the provisions of the Local Railways Act, 1914, and also includes the Chairman of a Board.

A Board may out of its funds pay to its members all amounts actually and reasonably expended by them in attending meetings of the Board, or of any committee thereof, or in transacting any business of the Board pursuant to a resolution of the Board.

(a.) No claim of any member of the Board for such travelling-expenses shall be recognized by the Board unless such claim is accompanied by the certificate of such member stating that he has actually paid such expenses, and the Board is of opinion that such expenses are reasonable.
(b.) Such certificate shall be in the following form:—
I, [Full name, occupation, and address], hereby certify that I have actually paid the travelling-expenses set forth in the annexed claim in attending a meeting (of a committee) of the [Name of Board] Railway Board on the day of , 192 .

- No payment of travelling-expenses under these regulations to any member of a Board shall be made unless such payment is first passed at a meeting of the Board.

Recreation Reserve in Westland Land District brought under Part II of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 24th day of January, 1922.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by the twenty-sixth section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the reserve for recreation in the Westland Land District described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of Part II of the said Act; and such reserve shall hereafter be known as the Kotare Domain, and be managed, administered, and dealt with as a public domain.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been permanently reserved as a site for a public library: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to vest the said reserve in the Ballance Library and Atheneum, a body corporate duly constituted pursuant to the Libraries and Mechanics’ Institutes Act, 1908:
