GREY DISTRICT ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area comprising the County of Grey.

Open Season for the Taking or Killing of Opossums in the North Canterbury Acclimatization District.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 8th day of May, 1922.

Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that opossums of the species Trichosurus vulpecula or of the subspecies Trichosurus fuliginosus may be taken or killed within the North Canterbury Acclimatization District described in the Schedule hereto, except in any sanctuary or public domain, from the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, both days inclusive, subject to the general regulations made by Order in Council dated the eighth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two.

And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill opossums within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of two pounds ten shillings each; and the Chief Postmaster at Christchurch is hereby appointed to sign and issue such licenses to take or kill opossums.

SCHEDULE.
NORTH CANTERBURY ACCLIMATIZATION SOCIETY.
ALL that area in the Nelson, Marlborough, and Canterbury Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at Whitcombe Pass, and proceeding north-easterly along the summit of the Southern Alps and the Spenser Mountains to Mount Humboldt; thence along a right line to Barefell Pass, a right line to Palmer Saddle, and thence down the Conway River to its mouth; thence along the sea-coast to Rakaia River, and up that river to its source at Whitcombe Pass, the point of commencement.

And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill opossums within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of two pounds ten shillings each, and the Chief Postmaster at Hokitika and the Postmasters at Kumara, Ross, and Okarito are hereby appointed to sign and issue such licenses to take or kill opossums.

SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area comprising the County of Westland.

WAIMATE ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north generally by Mackenzie and Levels Counties from the middle of the Waitaki River to the sea, towards the east by the sea to the mouth of the Waitaki River, and towards the south-west and west generally by a line along the middle of that river to Mackenzie County, the place of commencement.
