thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and
twenty-two, both days inclusive, subject to the general regu-
lations made by Order in Council dated the eighth day of
May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two.

And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill opossums
within the said district shall be issued to any person on pay-
ment of the sum of two pounds ten shillings each; and the
Chief Postmaster at Wellington, and the Postmasters at
Featherston, Paraparaumu, Lower Hutt, Petone, Palmerston
North, Upper Hutt, Levin, Taihape, Bull’s, Marton, Master-
ton, Eketahuna, Carterton, Greytown, and Waikanae, are
hereby appointed to sign and issue such licenses to take or
kill opossums.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.

COMPRISING all that area in the Wellington Land District
bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Wangaehu
River, and proceeding thence up the middle of that river to a
point due west about 18 chains from the western boundary of
Block XIV, Mangawhero Survey District; thence along a
right line through Okaipe Trig. Station to the summit of
the eastern watershed of the Wangaehu River; thence
north-westerly by lines from hill to hill along that summit
to the Maungakaretu Trig. Station; thence south-easterly
along a right line to a point in the middle of the Turakina
River in line with the south-western boundary of Section 1,
Block X, Maungakaretu Survey District; thence along that
boundary, the southern boundary of the Ruanui No. 2 Block,
and down the centre of the Panemango Stream to its con-
fluence with the Tomakomako Stream; thence easterly along
a right line to Trig. Station 32; thence northerly along a
right line to Trig. Station 16, a right line to Trig. Station 17
(Auahitotara), a right line to Trig. Station 24 (Te Rotete),
and a right line to Trig. Station 28 (Manukaiapu); thence
easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 27 and a right
line in the direction of Trig. Station 26 (Tawaki Tohunga)
to its intersection with the middle of the Rangitikei River;
thence down the middle of that river to its intersection with
a right line between Trig. Stations 32 and 30 (Aorangi), and
easterly along the said right line to Trig. Station 30; thence
along a right line in the direction of the confluence of the
northern branch of the Waipawa River with the Makaroro
River to the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence southerly
along the summit of the said range to the source of the
Pourangaki Stream, and down that stream to its confluence
with the Kawhatau Stream, down the middle of the said
Kawhatau Stream to its confluence with the Rangitikei
River; thence down the middle of the Rangitikei River to
the Awahuri–Bull’s Road, and easterly along that road to
the Oroua River; thence up the middle of the Oroua River
to the Wellington–New Plymouth Railway line; thence
south-easterly along said railway-line and Stony Creek Road
to the Palmerston–Ashhurst Road; thence north-easterly
along that road to the northernmost corner of Section 454,
Block VIII, Kairanga Survey District; thence south-easterly
along the Raukawa Road fronting Sections 454 and 455 of
the said block to the centre of the Manawatu River; thence
up the middle of that river to and along the northern boundary
of the Wellington Land District to the mouth of the Waimata
River; thence southerly along the sea-coast to Cape Palliser,
westerly generally along the sea-coast to Cape Terawhiti,
and northerly along the sea-coast to the mouth of the Wangaehu
River, the point of commencement: including all adjacent
islands.

Open Season for the Taking or Killing of Opossums in the
Nelson Acclimatization District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 8th day
of May, 1922.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING
IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by the Animals Protection and
Game Act, 1921–22, and of all other powers and authorities
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that opossums of
the species Trichosurus vulpecula or of the subspecies Tricho-
surus fuliginosus may be taken or killed within the Nelson

Acclimatization District described in the Schedule hereto,
except in any sanctuary or public domain, from the first day
of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two,
to the thirtieth day of September, one thousand nine hundred
and twenty-two, both days inclusive, subject to the general
regulations made by Order in Council dated the eighth day
of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two.

And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill opossums
within the said district shall be issued to any person on pay-
ment of the sum of two pounds ten shillings each; and the
Chief Postmaster at Nelson, and the Postmasters at Motueka,
Kohatu, Wakefield, Murchison, and Reefton, are hereby
appointed to sign and issue such licenses to take or kill
opossums.

SCHEDULE.

NELSON ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.

ALL that area comprising the Waimea, Takaka, Colling-
wood, and Murchison Counties, and part of the Inangahua
County of present date, bounded towards the north-west
and north-east generally by the Tasman Sea, Golden
Bay, and Tasman Bay from Kohaihai Bluff, in Block
XIII, Whakapoi Survey District, to a point on the shore
of Croisilles Harbour due west of the westernmost point of
Elaine or Brown’s Bay; thence towards the north by a
right line running due east to said westernmost point of that
bay and by southern shore of that bay to its south head;
thence towards the south-east generally by a right line to
Trig. Station Y (boundary trig.), and by a line along the
summit of the range over Mount McLaren, Editor Peak,
Mount Duppa, and Saddle Hill to the source of the Heringa
Stream; thence by a line down the middle of that stream
to its confluence with the Pelorus River; thence by a line up
the middle of the Pelorus River to its source near Red
Hills; thence by a right line to the summit; thence by a line
along the summit of the range over Red Hills, Mount Rintoul,
and Bush Cone to the summit of Ward’s Pass; thence by
a right line to Trig. Station Top 2 (Mangatawai); thence by
a line along the summit of St. Arnaud Range and the summit
of the Spenser Mountains; thence towards the south-west
by a line along the summit of the southern watershed of the
Maruia River to Mount Haast; thence by a line due north
to the right bank of the Inangahua River, and along
that bank to and along the left bank of the Buller River to
the mouth of the Eight-mile or Boundary Creek; thence by a
line up a leading spur on the western side of said Boundary
Creek to Bald Hill, and by a line along the summit of Lyell
Range and along the summit of a range over Mount Luna to
Mount Arthur; thence towards the south-west by a line along
the summit of the western ranges over Mount Peel and Mount
Snowdon to Mount Cobb; thence towards the south-east by a
line along the summit of range over Mount Domett and down
a leading spur to the Tasman Sea at Kohaihai Bluff, the place
of commencement.
