SCHEDULE.

ADDITIONAL AREAS WHEREIN IMPORTED AND NATIVE GAME SHALL NOT BE KILLED.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situated in Kai Iwi and Kaihu Survey Districts, Hobson County, being the lakes known as Lake Waikere, Lake Taharoa, and Lake Kai Iwi, and the area surrounding the said lakes included within a line running parallel to and forty chains distant from the margins of the said lakes.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 5th day of April, 1922.

Shooting Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fee, &c., Lakes Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the following imported game and native game—viz., Californian quail, grey duck, and black swan—may be taken or killed within the Lakes Acclimatization District, comprising the County of Lake, from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two (both days inclusive). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each; and the Postmasters at Queenstown, Arrowtown, Kingston, and Pembroke are hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

And I do further restrict the number of such grey duck and black swan that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day to not more than twenty-five head in all.

Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game and native game on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain.

Shooting Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fee, &c., Marlborough Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the following imported game and native game—viz., Californian quail, grey duck, and black swan—may be taken or killed within the Marlborough Acclimatization District, comprising all that area in the Nelson, Marlborough, and Canterbury Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at Mount Humboldt in the Spenser Mountains and proceeding thence north-easterly along that range and the St. Arnaud Range to the Waimea County; thence following the south-eastern boundary of the said Waimea County as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1917, page 4194, to the shore of Croisilles Harbour; thence following the sea-coast generally easterly and southerly to the mouth of the Conway River, and up that river to its source at Palmer Saddle; thence along a right line to Barefell Pass and a right line westerly to Mount Humboldt, the point of commencement; including therein D’Urville Island and all islands adjacent to the coast; (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto) from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two (both days inclusive). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each; and the Chief Postmaster at Blenheim, and the Postmasters at Havelock, Canvastown, Mahakipawa, Renwicktown, Timatanga, Kekerangu, Picton, Nydia Bay, Seddon, Spring Creek, Ward, and Wairau Valley, are hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

And I do hereby restrict the number of such imported game and native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day to not more than twenty-five Californian quail and twelve head in all of grey duck and black swan.

Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game and native game on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or any land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ADDITIONAL AREAS WHEREIN IMPORTED GAME AND NATIVE GAME MAY NOT BE TAKEN OR KILLED.

  1. ALL that area in the Marlborough Land District known as Lake Grassmere, and the area within a line running parallel to and five chains distant from the margin of the said lake.

  2. All that area in the Marlborough Land District situated in Blocks VI and VII, Cape Campbell Survey District, being the lake known as Lake Elterwater, and the area surrounding the said lake included within a line running parallel to and forty chains distant from the margin of the said Lake Elterwater.

  3. Big Lagoon at Vernon.

Shooting Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fee, &c., Nelson Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, William Downie Stewart, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that the following imported game and native game—viz., Californian quail, grey duck, and black swan—may be taken or killed within the Nelson Acclimatization District, comprising the Waimea, Takaka, Collingwood, and Murchison Counties, and part of the Inangahua County of present date, bounded towards the north-west and north-east generally by the Tasman Sea, Golden Bay, and Tasman Bay from Kohaihai Bluff, in Block XIII, Whakapoa Survey District, to a point on the shore of Croisilles Harbour due west of the westernmost point of Elaine or Brown’s Bay; thence towards the north by a right line running due east to said westernmost point of that bay and by southern shore of that bay to its south head; thence towards the south-east generally by a right line to Trig. Station Y (boundary trig.), and by a line along the summit of the range over Mount McLaren, Editor Peak, Mount Dupa, and Saddle Hill to the source of the Heringa Stream; thence by a line down the middle of that stream to its confluence with the Pelorus River; thence by a line up the middle of the Pelorus River to its source near Red Hills; thence by a right line to the summit; thence by a line along the summit of the range over Red Hills, Mount Rintoul, and Bush Cone to the summit of Ward’s Pass; thence by a right line to Trig. Station Top 2 (Mangatawai); thence by a line along the summit of St. Arnaud Range and the summit of the Spenser Mountains; thence towards the south-west by a line along the summit of the southern watershed of the Maruia River to Mount Haast; thence by a line due north to the right bank of the Inangahua River, and along that bank to and along the left bank of the Buller River to the mouth of the Eight-mile or Boundary Creek; thence by a line up a leading spur on the western side of said Boundary Creek to Bald Hill, and by a line along the summit of Lyell Range and along the summit of a range over Mount Luna to Mount Arthur; thence towards the south-west by a line along the summit of the western ranges over Mount Peel and Mount Snowdon to Mount Cobb; thence towards the south-east by a line along the summit of range over Mount Domett and down a leading spur to the Tasman Sea at Kohaihai Bluff, the place of commencement, from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two (both days inclusive). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such imported game and native game within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each; and the Chief Postmaster at Nelson, and the Postmasters at Motueka, Kohatu, Wakefield, Murchison, and Reefton, are hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

And I do hereby restrict the number of such imported game and native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day to not more than forty Californian quail, ten grey duck, and five black swan.

Nothing in this warrant shall apply to Californian quail in the County of Murchison, protection having been removed from such quail in that county.
