Altering Boundaries of certain Ridings of the Kawhia County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS in accordance with the provisions of section nine of the Waikato and King-country Counties Act, 1921–22, the boundaries of the counties of Kawhia and Awakino were altered by the exclusion of a certain area from the County of Awakino and the inclusion of such area in the County of Kawhia:

And whereas it is desirable that the area so added to the County of Kawhia should be included in the Taharoa Riding of that county:

And whereas in accordance with the provisions of section ten of the said Waikato and King-country Counties Act, 1921–22, the boundaries of the counties of Kawhia and Raglan were altered by the exclusion of a certain area from the County of Kawhia, being portion of the Matakowhai Riding of that county, and the inclusion of such area in the County of Raglan:

And whereas it is desirable that the remaining portion of the Matakowhai Riding of the Kawhia County should form part of the Oparau Riding of that county:

Now, therefore, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section twenty-one of the Counties Act, 1920, do hereby declare that the area included as aforesaid in the County of Kawhia shall, as on and from the second day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, be included in the Taharoa Riding of the said county, and that the boundaries of that riding shall be those set forth in the First Schedule hereto; and I do further declare that the remaining portion of the Matakowhai Riding of the said county shall, as on and from the aforesaid date, be added to and form part of the Oparau Riding of that county, and that the boundaries of that riding shall be those set forth in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
TAHAROA RIDING.

ALL that area in the Kawhia County, bounded commencing at the north-western corner of Section 1, Block VI, Marakopa Survey District; on the west by the sea, on the north by Kawhia Harbour to Okete Stream, thence along that stream to the Mahoenui-Kawhia Road, southerly along that road and the Taumatatotara West Road to Section 2, Block V, Kawhia South Survey District, along the eastern boundary of said Section 2, along the northern and eastern boundaries of Section 3, Block IX, and the eastern boundary of Section 3A, Block IX, to the Marakopa River, up that river to the south-eastern corner of Section 3, Block X, along the south-eastern boundary of said Section 3 to the easternmost corner along a right line due east to the south-western boundary of Section 3, Block XII; thence along the southern boundaries generally of that section and of Section 3, Block VIII, to the Kokakoroa Road; thence south-westerly generally along the county boundary to the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
OPARAU RIDING.

ALL that area in the Kawhia County bounded on the north and east by the county boundary, on the south by Sections 16, 14, and 13, Block IX, Pirongia Survey District, Section 1, a piece of Crown lands containing 58 acres, Te Kauri No. 1c 2, Section 2, and Waihinu Block, all in Block XII, Kawhia North Survey District, to the Okupata Stream, by that stream and Oparau River to Kawhia Harbour; on the west by the Kawhia Harbour, Kawhia Riding, as described in the New Zealand Gazette, 1911, page 2191, and Aotea Harbour to the place of commencement.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this 30th day of March, 1922.

Constituting the Borough of Avondale, County of Eden.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and thirty-one of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, a petition was presented to the Governor-General praying that the area described in the said petition be constituted a new borough;

And whereas the provisions of the said section one hundred and thirty-one have been complied with in respect thereto, and the result of the poll taken on the proposal contained in the said petition was in favour thereof:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be constituted a borough under the said Act on and from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two; that the name of such borough shall be the Borough of Avondale; that the said borough shall be an undivided borough; and that the number of Councillors to be elected thereto shall be eight, exclusive of the Mayor.

And I do further proclaim and declare that Arthur Nunns, of Avondale, shall be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough; and that the said Arthur Nunns, of Avondale, shall be the Town Clerk and the person to prepare the district electors roll for the purposes of the said first election.

And, lastly, I do proclaim and declare that the first election of Mayor and Councillors of the said borough shall be held on Saturday, the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two; and that the first meeting of the Council of the said borough shall be held on Wednesday, the third day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, at half past seven o'clock in the afternoon, at the Town Hall, Avondale.

SCHEDULE.
PROPOSED BOROUGH OF AVONDALE.

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded towards the north generally by Waitemata Harbour from the Whau River to Oakley Creek; thence towards the east generally by Oakley Creek aforesaid to the southern boundary of Section 62, Parish of Titirangi; thence towards the south by that boundary and its production to the middle of a road forming the western boundary of Section 62 aforesaid; thence again towards the east by a line along the middle of that road to a line parallel to and distant 3 chains from the southern side of New North Road; thence again towards the north-west by that line to Oakley Creek aforesaid; thence again towards the north-east generally by that creek to the eastern side of Richardson Road, which forms the north-eastern boundary of Section 94, Parish of Titirangi; thence again towards the north-east by the eastern side of that road to its nearest angle; thence by a line across that road to the western side of road forming the north-eastern boundaries generally of Sections 66 and 67, Parish of Titirangi; thence towards the north-east generally by that roadside to the easternmost corner of Section 67 aforesaid; thence towards the south-east and south-west by the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Section 67 aforesaid to a point in line with the eastern side of Boundary Road, which forms the eastern boundaries of Sections 78 and 77, Parish of Titirangi; thence by a right line to said eastern side of Boundary Road; thence towards the south-east by said eastern side of Boundary Road and a right line across White Swan Road to the north-eastern corner of Section 75, Parish of Titirangi; thence towards the south-east by the eastern boundary-line of the last-mentioned section to Manukau Harbour; thence towards the south generally by Manukau Harbour to the western side of the Whau-Portage Road; thence towards the west by that roadside to Avondale Stream, and again towards the west generally by that stream and the Whau River to Waitemata Harbour, the place of commencement.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand; and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this 30th day of March, 1922.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the thirty first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the second day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, the boundaries of the counties of Clifton and Whangamomona were altered by the exclusion of certain areas from the County of Clifton and the inclusion of such areas in the County of Whangamomona;
