Regulations for Teachers' Salaries Adjustments.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 23rd day of February, 1922.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him
by the Public Expenditure Adjustment Act, 1921-22, and of all other
powers enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the
regulations set out below relating to adjustments in teachers' salaries;
and doth prescribe that this Order shall take effect as from the first day
of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two.
REGULATIONS
TEACHERS' SALARIES ADJUSTMENTS.
The salaries and allowances provided in accordance with the several regulations for the time being in force, for (1) teachers, pupil-teachers, and probationers of public schools, (2) teachers of Native schools, (3) teachers of secondary schools, (4) teachers of technical schools and classes and manual-training classes, and (5) staffs and students of training colleges and normal schools, shall be reduced as from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, as follows:
Public Schools.
- (a.) In the case of head teachers of public schools receiving salaries
of Grades VI or VII as defined by the regulations for public-school
teachers, a reduction of £15 per annum.
(b.) In the case of head or sole teachers receiving salaries of Grades II
to V inclusive, or of assistant teachers receiving salaries of Grades 2A to 8
inclusive, or of relieving teachers receiving salaries of Grade C or a higher
grade, or of organizing teachers,
(i.) If such teachers would be entitled (if they were assistant teachers)
to the addition to salary for married assistants under clause 5
of the regulations for the salaries of public-school teachers, a
reduction of £10 per annum ; or
(ii.) If such teachers would not be entitled to such addition to salary,
a reduction of £12 per annum.
(c.) In all other cases of teachers of public schools, including probationers and pupil-teachers but excluding teachers of Grade 0 schools,
a reduction of £10 per annum.
(d.) In the case of teachers of Grade 0 schools, no reduction.
Native Schools.
- (a.) In the case of head or sole teachers of Native schools, the same reduction as in the case of teachers of corresponding grades in public schools.
(b.) In the case of assistant teachers of Native schools, a reduction of £12 per annum if the annual salary is £155 or over, and a reduction of £10 if the salary is less than £155.
Secondary Schools.
- (a.) In the case of principals of secondary schools receiving salaries,
(i.) As for schools of Grades I to X as defined by the regulations, a
reduction of £20 per annum ; or
(ii.) As for schools of Grades XI to XVIII, a reduction of £25 per
annum; or
(iii.) As for schools of Grades XIX or higher grades, a reduction of
£30 per annum.
(b.) In the case of assistant teachers of secondary schools receiving
salaries of Grade A as defined by the regulations, a reduction of £15 per
annum.
(c.) In the case of assistant teachers of secondary schools who are
receiving salaries of Grades B, C, or D, and are entitled to the addition
to salary for married assistants under clause 26 of the regulations for
salaries of secondary-school teachers, a reduction of £10 per annum.
(d.) In the case of all other assistant teachers of secondary schools, a
reduction of £12 per annum.
