The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 6th July, 1905, fixing the closing-hours of tailors’, clothiers’, drapers’, milliners’, jewellers’, fancy-goods dealers’, stationers’, grocers’, bootmakers’, ironmongers’, furniture dealers’, butchers’, and bicycle dealers’ shops in the Borough of Blenheim is hereby superseded, in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice, as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Sporting-goods Dealers’ Shops in the Town of Rotorua, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the sporting-goods dealers’ shops in the Town of Rotorua, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the town be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) during the months of June, July, August, September, and October the closing-hour on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday shall be 6 p.m.; and (2) on the last working-day that precedes Christmas Day and the last working-day that precedes New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.:

And whereas, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the sporting-goods dealers’ shops within the Town of Rotorua:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, I do hereby direct that on and after the 27th day of October, 1921, all the sporting-goods dealers’ shops within the Town of Rotorua shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) during the months of June, July, August, September, and October, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays the closing-hour shall be 6 p.m.; and (2) on the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day and on the working-day that first precedes New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 24th March, 1921, fixing the closing-hours of sporting-goods dealers’ shops in the Town of Rotorua is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Notice of Intention to take Land for Scenic Purposes in Block I, Mount Robinson Survey District.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and the Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1910, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for scenic purposes. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Foxton, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 47 acres 2 roods.

Portion of Section 332, Township of Carnarvon, Block I, Mount Robinson Survey District. (S.O. 259/33.)

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 52873, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged red.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Titirangi Survey District, for the Purposes of a Post-office.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a post-office in Block II, Titirangi Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Waikumete, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 25·29 perches.

Portion of Lot 1 of Allotment 5 of Section 13 (D.P. 3104), Parish of Waikomiti, Block II, Titirangi Survey District. (S.O. 21417.)

Prohibition of Importation into Fiji of certain Fruits and Plants from New Zealand.—Notice No. 2094.

IT is hereby notified, for public information, that in view of the existence in New Zealand of fireblight, the Government of Fiji has issued an order prohibiting the importation into Fiji from New Zealand of the following species of fruits and plants:—

All members of the natural order Rosaceæ, which include apples, pears, medlars, quinces, roses, hawthorn, &c.

IT is hereby notified, for public information, that the Te Puke Town Board has, by special order, declared gorse (Ulex europæus), broom (Cytisus scoparius), and Bathurst burr (Xanthium spinosum) to be noxious weeds within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, in the district under its jurisdiction.
