Certain Birds turned at large in Auckland Acclimatization Society’s District declared to be vested in that Society.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to direct it to be notified that the Auckland Acclimatization Society has turned at large the following birds, namely—
Grey goose (known as domestic goose),
Canadian goose,
English wild duck (mallard),
English widgeon,
English teal, and
New Zealand white and black widgeon ;
and that the property in such birds and their offspring, and every bird of a like species in that acclimatization district, is deemed to be vested in the Auckland Acclimatization Society for a period of three years from the date hereof, as provided by section 56 of the Animals Protection Act, 1908.

Disbandment of Units.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has approved of the disbandment of the undermentioned units, in accordance with section 6 (b) of the Defence Act, 1909:—
Auckland Mounted Signal Troop (Corps of New Zealand Engineers), with headquarters at Cambridge.
No. 7 Mounted Field Ambulance, with headquarters at Invercargill.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops in the Borough of Wanganui, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the Borough of Wanganui, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough, save and except that shop established at 55 Guyton Street in the Borough of Wanganui for the sale of medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently needed, be closed in the evenings of working-days as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 o’clock p.m., on Fridays at 9 o’clock p.m., and on Saturdays at 8 o’clock p.m. ; except on the evening of working-days immediately preceding the days mentioned in section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908 (except Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve), when the closing-hour shall be 8 o’clock p.m., and on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve the closing-hour shall be 10 o’clock p.m. :
And whereas, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that all the occupiers of the chemists’ shops in the Borough of Wanganui affected by section 3 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1915, have been afforded an equal right to share in the profits of the business carried on by such specified shop, and that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops in the Borough of Wanganui :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, and of section 3 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1915, I do hereby direct that on and after the 11th day of February, 1921, all chemists’ shops in the Borough of Wanganui, except such specified shop, shall be closed as follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m. on Fridays at 9 p.m., and on Saturdays at 8 p.m. ; except that on the evening of the working-day first preceding any of the special days, other than Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, the closing-hour shall be 8 p.m., and on the day first preceding Christmas Day and on the day first preceding New Year’s Day the closing-hours shall be 10 p.m.
Pursuant to subsection (4) of the said section, and to subsection (3) of section 18 of the said Act, nothing in this notice shall permit any such shop to remain open after the hour of 1 p.m. on the day observed as the weekly half-holiday, except for the sale of medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently required, provided that such shops may, pursuant to subsection (4) of section 18 of the said Act, reopen on the day observed as the weekly half-holiday between 7 and 8 p.m. only for the sale of medicines and surgical appliances.
The notice gazetted on the 21st day of June, 1917, is hereby cancelled.

Amending Regulations for Adjustment of Compasses.

WHEREAS by warrant dated the 14th day of March, 1906, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the following day, regulations were made fixing, amongst other things, the fees to be paid for the adjustment of compasses: And whereas it is desirable to amend the said regulations in the manner hereinafter prescribed :
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Marine, do hereby revoke table No. 2 of the Schedule to the hereinbefore-recited regulations, and do hereby substitute the following table in lieu thereof:—

WHEREAS by warrant dated the 12th day of August, 1913, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 64, of the 21st day of the same month, limits were defined for the Port of Auckland within which restricted-limit steamships and ships propelled by mechanical power other than steam, and to which restricted-limit certificates are issued, might ply: And whereas it is desirable that the limits therein defined for the Port of Auckland be amended:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Marine, in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 189 of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, do hereby revoke the aforesaid warrant of the 12th day of August, 1913, in so far as it defines the river and
