WESTLAND MINING DISTRICT.
LIGHT-BUSH LAND.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
Murchison County.—Maruia Survey District.
Section 9, Block XII: Area, 544 acres; capital value, £360; half-yearly rent, £7 4s.
Situated in the Maruia Valley, about sixteen miles from Murchison by good formed road. There is a post and telephone office within two miles and a school within three miles of the section. Thirty-four miles distant from Inangahua Junction Railway-station. Contains about 30 acres good flat land on roadside, balance terrace and hillside. A bush fire has been through 240 acres of the section. Soil good on flat, fair on hillside, partly limestone formation. Medium forest of birch, with white-pine on flats and matai on hillside, with medium undergrowth of birch scrub, horopito, broadleaf, &c. Well watered. General quality fair to good. Altitude, 700 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level.
Inangahua County.—Reefton Survey District.
Section 5, Block III: Area, 319 acres; capital value, £160; half-yearly rent, £3 4s.
Situated up Landing Creek, about fourteen miles from Reefton—eleven miles and a half by main Reefton-Westport Road, one mile and three-quarters formed dray-road, thence by rough track three-quarters of a mile. Access from main Reefton-Westport Road at Rotokohu two miles and a half distant. Section comprises about 200 acres flat and undulating land, balance hillside. The whole area is bushclad. Soil fair to good, on gravel and granite formation. Bush consists chiefly of light to mixed birch, miro, &c., with a medium undergrowth of horopito, birch, broadleaf, &c. There is a fair amount of rough cattle-feed. Well watered. Altitude, 480 ft. to 950 ft. above sea-level.

THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Murchison County.—Maruia Survey District.
Section 2, Block III: Area, 450 acres 0 roods 16 perches; capital value, £230; half-yearly rent, £4 12s.
Situated in Maruia Valley, about eight miles from Murchison by good road. Very little flat land, mostly hillside. Only about 120 acres now in bush; remainder burnt bush, of which about 40 acres have been felled. The burnt country is now in fern. Soil light loam, sandstone formation. Light forest, mostly mixed birch, with light undergrowth of birch scrub. Well watered. Altitude, 460 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level.
Section 1, Block III: Area, 517 acres; capital value, £270; half-yearly rent, £5 8s.
Weighted with £60, valuation for improvements consisting of felling, fencing, tracks, &c., also small slab whare in very bad repair.
Situated about eight miles from Murchison by good road. The section contains a few plots of about 15 acres of river-flats, balance is high plateau and hillside. About 250 acres standing bush, balance burnt bush now in fern. About 110 acres have been felled, but poorly sown. Soil a light clayey loam, on sandstone formation. Medium forest of mixed birch, with a fair undergrowth of birch scrub, horopito, broadleaf, &c. Well watered. Elevation, 480 ft. to 2,480 ft. above sea-level.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.—NATIONAL ENDOWMENT.
Inangahua County.—Mawheraiti Survey District.
Sections 15 and 16, Block IV: Area, 506 acres 0 roods 29 perches, capital value, £305; half-yearly rent, £6 2s.
Situated six miles from Reefton on the main Greymouth-Reefton road and railway. The eastern end of Section 15 is at Tawhai Railway-station, and Section 16 is at Maimai Railway-station. The sections comprise 150 acres of flat land, 20 acres being dredge-tailings and 30 acres fern and blackberry with a little grass; 100 acres bushclad; 357 acres hillside and high terrace, bushclad, with manuka on high country. Soil fair to good loam on flat, poor and light on hillside. The forest consists of light birch, with a fair undergrowth of birch scrub and horopito. Well watered. Altitude, 600 ft. to 1,100 ft. above sea-level.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section four of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the areas of settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby set apart and declared open for disposal by way of sale or lease to discharged soldiers, under special tenures, in the manner provided in the said Act.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section three hundred and eighty-nine of the Native Land Act, 1909, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby lay out and take as a road the land described in the Schedule hereto.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land taken: 1 acre 0 roods 12 perches.
Portion of Wharepuhunga No. 16b Block, Block VII, Wharepapa Survey District.
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 5/159, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, under No. 1925, and thereon coloured red. (Auckland plan 21786.)

WHEREAS it is provided by section one hundred and eighteen of the River Boards Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), that the Governor-General, if he thinks fit, may by Proclamation declare the Council of any county to be the River Board in respect of any river district the limits whereof are entirely included within the limits of such county, subject to the conditions imposed by the said section:
And whereas the Rangitata Island River District (hereinafter referred to as “the said river district”) is a river district duly constituted under the said Act:
