Abridged Description.—(U) Lt. gp. fl. (3), ev. 20 secs., 110 ft., vis.18 m.
Characteristics :
Character.—Group flashing white showing
three flashes every twenty seconds*, thus: Flash ½ sec., eclipse 3 secs.; flash ½ sec., eclipse 3 secs.; flash 5 secs., eclipse 8 secs.
Elevation.—110 ft.
Visibility.—18 miles.
Structure.—Black steel pyramidal framework tower.
Remarks.—The light is unwatched.
(b.) AUXILIARY LIGHT: Position.—On the north-eastern side of the tower described in (a) above.
Abridged description.—(U) Lt. occ., ev. 2 secs., 38 ft., vis. 9 m.
Characteristics :
Character.—Occulting white every two seconds, thus: Light 1 sec., eclipse 1 sec.
Elevation.—38 ft.
Visibility.—9 miles.
Remarks.—The light is unwatched.

  1. Light-buoy withdrawn.
    Position.—Close to the western end of the East Breakwater.
    Description.—Black conical light-buoy with flashing white light.

ARGENTINA.
RIO DE LA PLATA APPROACH.—PUNTA MEDANO LIGHT.—AMENDED DESCRIPTION.
Position.—Lat. 36° 53′ S., long. 56° 41′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. occ., ev. 10 secs., 194 ft., vis. 20 m.
Details.—The character of the light is occulting white every ten seconds thus: Light 6 secs., eclipse 4 secs.; and not as shown in the Admiralty publications.

SOUTH ATLANTIC OCEAN.
SHOAL REPORTED.
Position (approximate).—Lat. 43° 57′ S., long. 47° 28′ W.
Depth.—Believed to be about 8 fathoms.
Remarks.—Kelp was observed in the above position, about one cable in extent, and apparently fixed to the bottom, which was reported to have been clearly seen. No soundings were taken.
Note.—The shoal is to be inserted on the charts, and marked with the note (“Subra 1920”).

AUSTRALIA.
SOUTH COAST.—SPENCER GULF.—WARDANG ISLAND LIGHT.—POSITION INCORRECTLY SHOWN ON CHARTS.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the position of the Wardang Island light as shown on Admiralty Charts Nos. 752 and 2389 is incorrect. The correct position is as follows:—
Position.—On the summit of Wardang Island, at a distance of 6·6 cables, 323° (N. 42° W. mag.), from the position shown on Charts Nos. 752 and 2389. Lat. 34° 30′ 11″ S., long. 137° 20′ 49″ E.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.
SOCIETY ISLANDS, TAHITI.—PAPEETE HARBOUR.—LEADING-LIGHTS ESTABLISHED.
(a.) Front Light.
Position.—On the white beacon close northward of the prison near the mouth of Tipaerui River. Lat. 17° 32¼′ S., long. 149° 34½′ W.
Abridged Description.—Lt. F., red, 20 ft., vis. 6 m.
Characteristics :
Character.—Fixed red.
Elevation.—20 ft.
Visibility.—6 miles.
Structure.—Post with white triangular daymark.

(b.) Rear Light.
Position.—At a distance of 426 ft., 148°, from front light.
Abridged Description.—Lt. F., red, 66 ft., vis. 6 m.
Characteristics :
Character.—Fixed red.
Elevation.—66 ft.
Visibility.—6 miles.
Structure.—Post with white triangular daymark.

NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN.
MIDWAY ISLANDS, BREAKERS SOUTHWARD OF, TO BE INSERTED ON CHART NO. 2683.
Position (approximate).—Lat. 26° 18′ N., long. 178° 43′ 30″ W.
Correction.—The breakers reported in the above position are to be inserted on Chart No. 2683, which was omitted from the list of charts affected.

JAPAN SEA.
N.E. COAST OF HOUSHU.
The Imperial Japanese Government notify the establishment of a new lighthouse on Saruyama-Misaki, Province of Noto, on 15th November, 1920. The following particulars are supplied:—
Name: Saruyama-Misaki Lighthouse.
Position: Lat. north, 37° 19′ 20″; long. east, 136° 43′ 21″.
Description: White square concrete tower.
Height of light above base: 30 shaku (29·8 ft.) (9·04 metres).
Height of light above water: 700 shaku (696 ft.) (211 metres).
Character: Group flash, white, showing quadruple flashing in quick succession during 23 seconds followed by an eclipse of 37 seconds.
Arc of visibility: From N. 20° E. through east and south to S. 39° W. (whether true or magnetic is not stated).
Power: 100,000 candles.
Range of visibility: 35 miles in clear weather.
The foregoing affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 3003 and 2243.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Lands in the Auckland Land District forfeited.

Department of Lands and Survey, Wellington, 24th January, 1921.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases and licenses of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by the resolution of the Auckland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.
