Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Separate District of the Borough of Opotiki.
WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Opotiki was duly taken under the authority of section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, on the 27th day of April, 1921 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the separate district of the Borough of Opotiki has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Opotiki :
Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, as amended by section 5 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1920, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Opotiki as from the 30th day of May, 1921.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops in the Borough of St. Kilda, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops within the Borough of St. Kilda, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the closing not later than 1 p.m. on the statutory weekly half-holiday under sections 11 and 18 (b), Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 5 p.m., Fridays 6 p.m., excepting that Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, and the Thursday immediately preceding Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m. :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops in the Borough of St. Kilda :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, I do hereby direct that on and after the 1st day of June, 1921, all butchers’ shops in the Borough of St. Kilda shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 5 p.m., and on Fridays at 6 p.m., with the exception that in the evening of the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day and in the evening of the working-day that first precedes New Year’s Day the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.
The notice gazetted on the 9th September, 1915, fixing the closing-hours of butchers’ shops in the Borough of St. Kilda is hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of all Shops in the Borough of Motueka, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Borough of Motueka, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: (1.) On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5.30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m. On the working-day first preceding Christmas Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour. (2.) On the working-day first preceding Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m. (3.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 11 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, any day other than Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such cases the closing-hour on Saturday for any such shop shall be 5.30 p.m. :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Borough of Motueka :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, I do hereby direct that on and after the 1st day of June, 1921, all shops in the Borough of Motueka shall be closed as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 8 p.m., with the following exceptions :—
(1.) On the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour.
(2.) On the working-day that first precedes Good Friday the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.
(3.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 18 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, any day other than Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Saturday for any such shop shall be 5.30 p.m.
The notices gazetted on the 3rd August, 1905, and the 18th July, 1907, fixing the closing-hours of certain shops in the Borough of Motueka are hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

THE following list of secondary-school assistant teachers is issued under the authority of the Minister of Education in accordance with the regulations relating to secondary schools made by Order in Council dated the 8th December, 1920. The list shows the alterations made in the graded list of secondary-school assistant teachers published in the New Zealand Gazette dated 9th December, 1920, and contains the names of teachers whose classification has been altered as a result of—
(a.) Corrections (in service, &c.).
(b.) Decisions of the Grading Appeal Board.
Under the heading “Grade” is shown the grade in which a teacher is classified.
Under the heading “Grade of Position” is shown the grade of position in which a teacher is employed.
Under the heading “School” is shown the secondary school in which the teacher is employed.
