Extending Time for closing Poll, Springs-Ellesmere Electric-power Board’s District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 10th day of January, 1921.
Present :
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, as amended by the Local Elections and Polls Amendment Act, 1913, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the hour at which the poll to be held and taken in the Springs-Ellesmere Electric-power Board’s district on the twelfth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, shall close to seven o’clock in the afternoon of the day appointed.

Increasing Borrowing-powers of certain Fire Boards.

WHEREAS it is provided by section thirty-nine of the Finance Act, 1920, that the Governor-General in Council may, on the application of any Fire Board established under the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, extend within certain limits the powers of that Board to borrow moneys in excess of the limits fixed by section six of the Fire Brigades Amendment Act, 1908 :
And whereas applications have been made by the Boards of the Auckland, New Plymouth, and Palmerston North Fire Districts for such increases in the borrowing-powers of the said Boards, as provided by the said section thirty-nine, and it is desirable to grant such requests :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section thirty-nine of the Finance Act, 1920, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the powers of the said Auckland, New Plymouth, and Palmerston North Fire Boards to borrow moneys in excess of the limits fixed by section six of the Fire Brigades Amendment Act, 1908, are hereby extended, but so as not to exceed the sum of thirty thousand pounds in the case of the Auckland Fire Board, and the sum of twenty thousand pounds in the cases of the New Plymouth and the Palmerston North Fire Boards respectively; provided that no moneys as aforesaid shall be borrowed except subject to the provisions of the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and its amendments.

Validating Proceedings in connection with the Akaroa County Special Loan of £3,000.

WHEREAS the Akaroa County Council lately proposed to raise a loan of three thousand pounds, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), for the purposes of re-erecting the Council Chambers at Duvauchelles and the purchase of a certain area of land and the building thereon to be used as a foreman’s cottage and grazing-paddock :
And whereas in the notices published in pursuance of section nine of the said Act it was omitted to state that it was not proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan or the interest and sinking fund for the first year :
And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been misled by such irregularity or defect, and it is expedient to validate the same :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section one hundred and eleven of the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the proceedings in connection with the said loan shall be as valid to all intents and purposes as though the statement that it was not proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan or the interest and sinking fund for the first year had been made in the said notices, and that the said proceedings shall not be called in question by reason only of the irregularity or defect aforesaid.

Validating Irregularity in Election of Council of Great Barrier Island County.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 10th day of January, 1921.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS an election of members of the Council of the Great Barrier Island County (hereinafter referred to as “the said Council”) was inadvertently omitted to be held on the tenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, as required by the Counties Act, 1908 : And whereas an election of members of the said Council was held on the nineteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and it is expedient to validate the proceedings in connection with the said election :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him in that behalf by section two hundred and seventeen of the Counties Act, 1908, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the proceedings in connection with the election of members of the said Council on the said nineteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, shall be valid to all intents and purposes as if the said election had been held on the said tenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty; and doth further declare that the said proceedings shall not be called in question by reason only of the irregularity aforesaid.

Wakapuaka Drainage District, County of Waimea, constituted.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 10th day of January, 1921.

WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of the third section of the Land Drainage Act, 1908, a majority of the ratepayers in the area of land described in the Schedule hereto, situated in the County of Waimea, have presented a petition to His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, praying that the said area be constituted a drainage district under the provisions of the said Act :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained in the third section of the Land Drainage Act, 1908, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby constitute and declare the area of land described
