NOTE.—(1.) The applicant must forward along with his application two unretouched and unmounted half-length recent photographs of himself or herself, not to exceed in size 4½in. by 3½in., and to be not less than 3in. by 2in.
(2.) This application must be filled up in the English language.
(3.) If the applicant intends to remain only temporarily in New Zealand, it will not be necessary to fill in particulars under (c), (k), (l), and (n), but he must state the length of time during which he desires to stay. Unless for extraordinary reasons temporary permits will be granted only for six months.
(4.) This application must be sent by post from the country where the applicant was born, or where he has resided for one year prior to the date of application.

NOTE.—The rules as to prohibition from entering New Zealand or governing entry under certain restrictions apply to the following persons:—
(1.) Persons who are not of British birth and parentage.
(2.) Persons who are not in possession of permits to enter New Zealand or certificates of registration entitling the holders to return to New Zealand within four years of the date of the issue thereof.
(3.) Persons who are lunatic, idiotic, deaf, dumb, blind, or infirm.
(4.) Persons who are suffering from tuberculosis, syphilis, leprosy, and any contagious disease which is loathsome or dangerous.
(5.) Any person the date of whose arrival in New Zealand is earlier than two years after the termination of any imprisonment suffered by him in respect of any offence which, if committed in New Zealand, would be punishable by death or imprisonment for two years or upwards, not being a mere political offence, and no pardon having been granted.

Duty on Cigars manufactured in New Zealand.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 10th day of January, 1921.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section forty-nine of the Finance Act, 1917, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby (1) fix at seven thousand pounds weight the maximum quantity of cigars, containing less than seventy-five per centum of tobacco grown in New Zealand, which may be made by Gershon Pezaro, of Auckland, during any calendar year commencing from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-one, and upon which excise duty at four shillings the pound shall be paid upon delivery from his factory; and (2) prescribe that all cigars made by the said Gershon Pezaro in excess of such quantity as aforesaid shall pay an excise duty of six shillings and sixpence the pound.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in him by section thirteen of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, and of every other power and authority enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby direct that the Ngaruawahia Borough Council shall defray all the costs incurred in connection with the taking of a poll under the said Act on the seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, on the proposal to constitute the Borough of Ngaruawahia.
