Result of Poll for Proposed Loans.

Wellington, 12th April, 1921.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Taumarunui, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

TAUMARUNUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Result of Poll on Proposed Loans.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Taumarunui was taken on the 6th day of April, 1921, on proposals to raise loans for the following purposes:—

(b.) Electricity advances .. .. 8,000
(c.) Street improvements .. .. 32,000
(d.) Road-making machinery .. .. 5,000
(e.) Water-filtration .. .. 2,600
(f.) Land-purchase .. .. 2,200

(a.) Proposal for electric light and power, £47,000: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 230; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 5; majority for the proposal, 225.

(b.) Proposals for electricity advances, £8,000: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 220; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 11; majority for the proposal, 209.

(c.) Proposal for street improvements, £32,000: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 216; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 20; majority for the proposal, 196.

(d.) Proposal for machinery, £5,000: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 212; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 22; majority for the proposal, 190.

(e.) Proposal for water-filtration, £2,600: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 216; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 18; majority for the proposal, 198.

(f.) Proposal for land-purchase, £2,200: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 204; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 29; majority for the proposal, 175.

(g.) Proposal for public morgue, £500: The total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 214; the total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 21; majority for the proposal, 193.

The majority of votes being for the above proposals, I therefore declare the said proposals carried.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Hikurangi Town District, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

HIKURANGI TOWN DISTRICT.

In the matter of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, and the Town Boards Act, 1908, and amendments thereto.

NOTICE is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers of the Hikurangi Town District taken on the 8th day of March, 1921, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £300 for the purpose of completing the construction of the Hikurangi Bridge in reinforced concrete, and metalling the approaches thereto, the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 46 votes; against the proposal, 10 votes.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

NOTICE is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers of the Hikurangi Town District taken on the 8th day of March, 1921, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £200 for the purpose of metalling the worst portions of the main streets of the Hikurangi Town District, the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 32 votes; against the proposal, 24 votes.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

NOTICE is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers of the Hikurangi Town District taken on the 8th day of March, 1921, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £300 for the purpose of purchasing a motor-reel for fire-extinguishing purposes for the Hikurangi Fire Brigade, the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 24 votes; against the proposal, 31 votes; informal, 1 vote.

I therefore declare the proposal to be defeated.

NOTICE is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers of the Hikurangi Town District taken on the 8th day of March, 1921, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £100 for the purchase of a new hose and fire-brigade equipment for the Hikurangi Voluntary Fire Brigade, the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 24 votes; against the proposal, 31 votes.

I therefore declare the proposal to be defeated.

NOTICE is hereby given that at a poll of ratepayers of the Hikurangi Town District taken on the 8th day of March, 1921, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £100 for the construction of a public convenience in the Hikurangi Town District, the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 25 votes; against the proposal, 31 votes.

I therefore declare the proposal to be defeated.

Date of Election to fill Extraordinary Vacancy on Rotorua Fire Board by Fire-insurance Companies.

Wellington, 9th April, 1921.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the rules made thereunder, I, William Downie Stewart, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Thursday, the 28th April, 1921, to be the date for holding the election of one member of the Rotorua Fire Board by the fire-insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill an extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. C. I. McKeans.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Mangawara Drainage District, County of Waikato.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 7th April, 1921.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land Drainage Amendment Act, 1913, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Mangawara Drainage District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed inclusion which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 2, Block V, Hapuakohe Survey District, and proceeding thence northerly along a road forming the eastern boundary of said Section 2, and easterly along a road forming the southern boundary of Section 3; thence along the southern and eastern boundaries of Small Grazing-run 18 to the westernmost corner of Lot 5 of Section 279, Whangamarino Parish, along the north-western boundary of said Lot 5 to the western boundary of Section 471; thence southerly along that boundary and north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of Sections 472, 448, 449, 450, 451, 452, 453, and 454; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 454, 455, and 456 to Maungakawa; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 456, 457, 458, 459, 460, 461, and 495 to the Mangapiko Valley Road, and south-easterly along that road fronting or passing through Sections 495, 498, 295, 294, 293, 292, 291, 290, 289, 288, 283, 208A, 254, 222, 225, and 233 to the southernmost corner of the last-named section; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of said Section 233 to the Mangapiko Stream, and down that stream to the boundary of the Manga-
