Appointment of Resident Commissioner, Niue Island.

H IS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
JOHN CROUCHLEY MURRAY EVISON
To be Resident Commissioner at Niue, and also to be a Judge of the High Court of the Cook Islands, and also to be a Judge of the Native Land Court of the Cook Islands; and also to be Collector of Customs and Postmaster at Niue Island; as from the 28th January, 1921, vice G. N. Morris, transferred.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Ohura, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

OHURA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Kururau Special Rating Area of the Ohura County was taken on the 28th day of January, 1921, on the proposal of the Ohura County Council to borrow the sum of £11,700 for the purpose of road-construction, culverting, and metalling as follows:-
(1.) £9,000 of the loan to be used for the purpose of widening, culverting, and metalling the Kururau Road from the Ongarue River bridge to the junction of the Whakamaro Road.
(2.) £700 for widening and culverting the Kururau Road from its junction with the Otunui North Road towards the Opatea Road.
(3.) £1,000 for widening and culverting the Kururau Road from Mr. R. Goodwin’s homestead gate to the Opatea Road.
(4.) £750 for widening, culverting, and metalling the Otunui North Road from its junction with the Kururau Road.
(5.) £250 for widening and culverting the Whakamaro Road from its junction with the Kururau Road.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 49, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Manurewa Town District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the Town District of Manurewa was taken on the 5th day of February, 1921, on the proposal of the Manurewa Town Board to borrow the sum of £2,000 (two thousand pounds) for the purpose of erecting two workers’ homes in the Manurewa Town District.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 27, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 17.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
