Cancellation of Notice re Defence Rifle Clubs.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the cancellation of the notice under the heading “Defence Rifle Clubs disbanded,” published in the New Zealand Gazette dated 18th December, 1919, in so far as it relates to the disbandment of the undermentioned Defence Rifle Clubs:—

Glenavy Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Glenavy.

Pigeon Bay Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Pigeon Bay.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Mount Albert, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF MOUNT ALBERT.

Result of Poll on Proposals to raise Loans.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913. I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Mount Albert was taken on the 29th day of September, 1920, on the proposal of the Mount Albert Borough Council—

To borrow the sum of £9,000 for the following purposes :—
(a.) The erection and furnishing of a building for the purposes of municipal offices and public library : £8,000.
(b.) Contingencies, first year’s interest, and sinking fund : £1,000.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 242, and the number of votes recorded against the same was 300. I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

To borrow the sum of £82,000 for the following purposes :—
(a.) General sewer drainage : £30,000.
(b.) Sewer drainage of Rocky Nook area, also of portions of Kingsland and Morningside, all as defined in the report of F. E. Powell, C.E., dated 11th August, 1919 : £27,000.
(c.) Storm-water drainage, as defined in the report of F. E. Powell, C.E., dated 17th November, 1919, over and above such amount as may be allocated to other local bodies : £16,000.
(d.) Contingencies, first year’s interest, and sinking fund : £9,000.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 384, and the number of votes recorded against the same was 162. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

To borrow the sum of £100,000 for the following purposes :—
(a.) New North Road, general improvement and formation work : £13,000.
(b.) General improvement and formation work in streets of “A” Ward, £14,410; “B” Ward, £17,000; “C” Ward, £22,150; “D” Ward, £16,560: total, £70,120.
(c.) Transport plant and machinery : £5,000.
(d.) Contingencies, first year’s interest, and sinking fund : £11,880.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 349, and the number of votes recorded against the same was 184. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PALMERSTON NORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise Loans.

IN pursuance and exercise of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that the poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Palmerston North taken on the 6th day of September, 1920, on the proposal of the Palmerston North Borough Council to borrow the sums of £70,000 for the construction of roadways and storm-water drainage, and £9,000 for the purchase of motor-buses, resulted as follows :—

Loan of £70,000: For the proposal, 670; against the proposal, 280.

Loan of £9,000: For the proposal, 637; against the proposal, 388.

I therefore declare the proposal carried.

Special Order made by the Matamata County Council altering Ridings and adjusting Representation.

THE following special order, made by the Matamata County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908.

MATAMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Adjusting Representation in the Council.

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1908, the Matamata County Council resolves by way of special order as follows :—

  1. The present division of the County of Matamata into five ridings is hereby revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into nine ridings, to be called respectively Matamata Riding, Peria Riding, Tapapa Riding, Okoroire Riding, Tirau Riding, Tokoroa Riding, Putaruru Riding, Taotaoroa Riding, and Maungatautari Riding, which said ridings are described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The said Matamata County Council shall consist of nine members, who shall be elected as follows: Each of the aforesaid ridings shall elect one member.

  3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the date of gazetting thereof.

SCHEDULE.

Taotaoroa Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District as described in the New Zealand Gazette, 1908, No. 102, page 3150.

Peria Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded, commencing at the westernmost corner of Te Tapui Block, thence in a northerly direction by the Piako County boundary to the Auckland-Rotorua Railway; thence in a southerly direction by the said railway to the crossing of the Mangawhara Stream; thence in a westerly direction by the said stream and the southern boundaries of Sections 94, 99, Matamata Settlement (Block VI, Tapapa Survey District), and the southern boundary of Section 121, Matamata Settlement (Block V, Tapapa Survey District, &c.), and by a road, and across said road to a point the production on northern side of Buckland’s Road; thence by Buckland’s Road aforesaid to the eastern boundary of Taotaoroa Riding above described; thence in a northerly direction by the last said riding to the point of commencement.

Matamata Riding.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, commencing at the junction of the southern boundary of the Piako County and the Auckland-Rotorua Railway, thence in a north-easterly direction generally by the aforesaid Piako County boundary to the Waihou River; thence in a south-easterly direction by the said Waihou River and Wairere Stream, and again by the Piako County aforesaid; thence in a southerly direction by the Tauranga County boundary to the Te Weraiti Trig. Station; thence in a westerly direction by the southern boundary of Okauia No. 3 Block, across a road, and again by said southern boundary to the Waiomou Stream; thence by the said Waiomou Stream to its confluence with the Waihou River, across and by the said river to the southernmost
