by one dated 16th July, 1920, which varies the provisions of the previous Order in Council in the following respects:—

“Infected stock” is defined as follows:—

“Infected stock” means any stock which may have been exposed to the infection of disease as above defined, or any stock from countries from which their importation into Fiji is prohibited by these regulations.

The definition of “undomesticated animals” is replaced by the following:—

“Undomesticated animals” means all living animals other than domesticated poultry or game birds not included in the definition of stock.

Regulation 3 relating to the landing of live-stock now reads:—

  1. Such foreign live-stock as may by these regulations be introduced into the colony shall be landed only at the ports of Suva, Lautoka, or Levuka, provided that in the case of those animals for which by these regulations a period of quarantine is prescribed they shall be landed only at the port of Suva.

Regulation 34 relating to fees now reads:—

  1. The importer of animals shall pay to the Inspector the following fees:—

Horses, Asses, Mules, and Cattle. £ s. d.
For one and not exceeding four head .. .. 1 1 0
For every additional head over four and not exceeding fifty .. .. 0 2 0
For every additional head over fifty .. .. 0 1 0

Dogs.
For every dog .. .. .. .. 0 2 0

Sheep, Goats, and Swine.
For every sheep, goat, or swine not exceeding ten head .. .. .. .. 0 2 0
For any number of sheep, goats, or swine exceeding ten but not exceeding twenty-five .. .. 1 1 0
For any number of sheep, goats, or swine exceeding twenty-five but not exceeding fifty .. .. 1 5 0
For any number of sheep, goats, or swine exceeding fifty but not exceeding one hundred .. .. 1 10 0

The First Schedule is replaced by the following:—

FIRST SCHEDULE.—(Regulation 4.)

SHIPPER’S DECLARATION TO ACCOMPANY FOREIGN HORSES, ASSES, OR MULES TO FIJI.

I, [Full name and address of shipper], do solemnly and sincerely declare that the undermentioned [State whether horses, asses, or mules] are, to the best of my knowledge and belief, free from infectious and contagious disease, that they have been so during the six months immediately preceding the date hereof, and have not within the six months immediately preceding the date hereof been in direct or indirect contact with stock infected with any such diseases; and that they have been in [Insert name of State or district and of country], one of the countries from which the importation of horses into Fiji is permitted by these regulations, during the twelve months immediately preceding the date hereof.

N.B.—In any British country the declaration is to be made before a Justice of the Peace, Notary Public, or other person authorized to take it. In any country outside the British Empire the declaration is to be made before a British Consul or Vice-Consul or before any other authorized person.

Form No. 2.

VETERINARIAN’S CERTIFICATE TO ACCOMPANY HORSES, MULES, OR ASSES FROM NEW ZEALAND, NEW SOUTH WALES, VICTORIA, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, TASMANIA, THE UNITED KINGDOM, CANADA, AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND ASSES FROM FRANCE, SPAIN, AND PORTUGAL.

I, [Insert name and qualification], a Veterinarian practising in the [Insert name of State or district], hereby certify (a) that I have this day examined the animals referred to in the foregoing declaration, and found them free from all symptoms of infectious and contagious diseases; and (b) that on the day of , 19 , I applied the mallein test to the said animals with negative results.

In the case of horses or mules from New Zealand, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Canada, or the United States of America the certificate must be signed by a Government Veterinarian, and should read “a Veterinarian in the employ of, &c.”

The certificate of testing with mallein is not required in the case of animals from New Zealand, Australia, or Tasmania.

Subsidy to Local Bodies for the Destruction of the Kea increased.—Notice No. 2034.

Dismissal from the Defence Forces.

H IS Excellency the Administrator of the Government has approved of the dismissal, under section 6 (b), Defence Act, 1909, of No. 46/1732, ERNEST WHEELER ROWE, 4th (Otago) Regiment, from the New Zealand Defence Forces, he having been convicted by the Civil power. Dated 27th July, 1920.

Dismissal from the Defence Forces.

H IS Excellency the Administrator of the Government has approved of the dismissal, under section 6 (b), Defence Act, 1909, of No. 3/4008, JOHN WALTER CASEY, 3rd (Auckland) Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), from the New Zealand Defence Forces, he having been convicted by the Civil power. Dated 24th July, 1920.
