the north generally by the Otonga Riding boundary as described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 2nd July, 1914, page 2646, to the Whananaki Inlet, and by said inlet to Sandy Bay; thence towards the east generally by the said Sandy Bay to the northern corner of Section 11, Block XIV, Opuawhanga Survey District; thence towards the south-east generally by the said Section 11, and Section 5, Section 20, and Section 32, all of Block XIII aforesaid, to a public road, by a right line across said public road to the Te Toiroa Block, by said block and Section 9, Block XIII aforesaid, by Sections 21 and 22, Block XII aforesaid, to the northern boundary of the Kopuatoetoe Block, by said block to the north-eastern corner of a forest reserve in Block I, Whangarei Survey District, by said forest reserve and the Kahakaharoa No. 2 Block to the south-eastern corner of Allotment 67, Hikurangi Parish; thence towards the west generally by that allotment and Section 1 of Block I aforesaid to the southernmost corner of Section 7, Block XVI, Hukerenui Survey District, by that section to a public road, and by that public road to the point of commencement.

(b.) That all that area of land severed and cut off from the Marua Road District by reason of the foregoing adjustment in the boundaries of the said road district shall form part and parcel of the outlying district of Kiripaka Riding.

(c.) That the alterations made in the boundaries of the said Marua Road District shall take effect as from the close of the financial year, 31st March, 1921.

I certify that the foregoing special order was passed at a special meeting of the Whangarei County Council held on the 12th day of March, 1920, and confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the said Council held on the 14th day of May, 1920.

Notice respecting Proposed Raupare Drainage District, County of Hawke’s Bay.


Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 11th September, 1920.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land Drainage Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted a drainage district under Part I of the said Act, by name the Drainage District of Raupare. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the constitution of the said drainage district which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF PROPOSED DRAINAGE DISTRICT OF RAUPARE.

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement a total net area of 3,585 acres, situated in Blocks X, XI, XII, XV, and XVI, Heretaunga Survey District, and bounded by a line as follows:—

Commencing at a point where a drain intersects the westernmost corner of Lot 1 on the plan deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar as No. 2532; thence proceeding south-westerly along that drain bearing 230° 30′ and 230° 18′ to the easternmost corner of Section 4, Mahora Settlement; thence along the north-eastern boundaries of said Section 4 and Section 1, Mahora Settlement, to the northernmost corner of the latter; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Lot 3, Subdivision C, Heretaunga Block, to a point opposite the southernmost corner of Lot 52 on plan deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar as No. 2366; thence north-westerly by a right line to said corner of Lot 52; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of aforesaid Lot 3, Subdivision C, Heretaunga Block, to a point opposite the southernmost corner of Lot 66 on aforesaid plan; thence north-westerly by a right line to that corner; thence south-westerly along Raupare Road to the south-western boundary of Lot 68 on aforesaid plan; thence north-westerly generally along the south-western, &c., boundary of said Lot 68 to the south-eastern boundary of part Lot 2 on plan deposited with the District Land Registrar as No. 2339; thence south-westerly along that boundary

and north-westerly along its south-western boundary to Jarvis Road; thence along the north-eastern side of a public road to Twyford Road; thence north-easterly along Twyford Road and north-westerly along public road forming the south-western boundary of Lots 2 and 1 on plan deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar as No. 2872, and Lots 1, 4, and 6 on plan deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar as No. 2226; and thence along the south-western boundary of the said Lot 6 to the Ngaruroro River; thence down the right bank of the said river to a point about fifty chains above the Pakowhai Bridge; thence by a right line bearing 230° 30′ to the starting-point.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.


Mines Department (M. 27/2),
Wellington, 7th September, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

(1.) That at least forty thousand pounds (40,000 lb.) is produced on or before the 31st March, 1922, and the remaining sixty thousand pounds (60,000 lb.) on or before the 31st March, 1923.

(2.) The first instalment of the bonus will be paid when forty thousand pounds (40,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

(3.) In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least forty thousand pounds (40,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.

The notice dated the 9th July, 1920, and gazetted on the 22nd July, 1920, is hereby revoked, and the above substituted therefor.
