APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.
UNDER THE MINING ACT, 1908.
To the Warden of the Otago Mining District at Alexandra.
PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1908, the undersigned, Frederick McCarthy, of Earnsleough, Orchardist, hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.
Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 4.15 p.m.; 12/8/20.
Date and number of miner’s right: 16/2/20; 118832.

Schedule.
Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Starting in Conroy’s Creek in Creek Reserve, about 80 yards from the Alexandra-Clyde Road, following the bed of the creek on the east side to the road, then crossing the road and going through Fraser’s freehold 120 yards (with his consent), and terminating at applicant’s land.
Length and intended course of race: 270 yards; south to north.
Points of intake: Conroy’s Creek.
Estimated time and cost of construction: Six months; £100.
Mean depth and breadth: 1 ft. deep by 1 ft. 6 in. wide.
Number of heads to be diverted: One head.
Purpose for which water is to be used: Irrigation and domestic purposes.
Proposed term of license: forty-two years.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908; and in the matter of the DANNEVIRKE GAS COMPANY (LIMITED).
AT an extraordinary general meeting of members of the above-named company duly convened and held at Harcourt’s Buildings in Wellington on Tuesday, the 27th day of July, 1920, the following extraordinary resolution was passed; and at a second extraordinary meeting duly convened and held at the same place on Wednesday, the 11th day of August, 1920, was duly confirmed as a special resolution, namely:—
“That the company be wound up voluntarily.”
At the second meeting above referred to the following resolution was also passed:—
“That JOHN LESLIE GRIFFIN, one of the partners of the firm of Clarke and Menzies, be appointed Liquidator, at a fee of 100 guineas (£105), plus out-of-pocket expenses.”

AN extraordinary general meeting of the shareholders will be held at the Supper Room of the Town Hall, Taihape, on Saturday, 17th July, at 2.30 p.m., to confirm the following special resolution passed by the members of the company at a meeting of shareholders held on Saturday, 3rd July, 1920:—
“That the Taihape Motors (Limited) be wound up voluntarily; and that Mr. J. R. CUNNINGHAME be appointed Liquidator at a remuneration of twenty-five guineas.”

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Manawatu County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,000 for the purpose of completing the reconstruction of bridges on Main Drain Road, the said Manawatu County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/23rd of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Main Drain Special Rating District, comprising all that area of land contained within the following boundaries: Commencing at the northern boundary of Section 31, Block XII, Te Kawau Survey District, at a point where the said boundary joins the Oroua River; thence southward along the Oroua River to the southern boundary of Section 386, Block XVI, Te Kawau Survey District; thence along the southern boundary and western boundary of the said Section 386; thence along the western boundary of Section 74; thence along the southern boundary of Section 84 to Pyke’s Road; thence northward along Pyke’s Road to the southern boundary of Section 96, Block XI, Te Kawau Survey District; thence along the southern boundary of the said Section 96, the eastern and southern boundaries of Section 95, and the eastern and southern boundaries of Lot 120, Section 318; thence along the southern boundary of Lot 121, Section 318; thence along the western boundary of the said Lot 121, Section 318, to the southern boundary of Lot 123, Section 317; thence westward to Kellow’s Line; thence northwards along Kellow’s Line to the Taikorea Road; thence westward along the Taikorea Road to the western boundary of Section 148, Block XI, Te Kawau Survey District; thence northward along the western boundaries of Section 148 and N.R. 366; thence in a direct line across Sections 147 and 141 to Milner’s Road; thence eastward along Milner’s Road to the western boundary of Section 47, Block VII, Te Kawau Survey District; thence northward along the western boundary of Sections 47 and 46 to Jones Line; thence eastward along Jones Line to the northern boundary of Section 40A, Block VIII, Te Kawau Survey District; thence along eastern boundary of the said Section 40A to the Sluggish Creek; thence southward along the Sluggish Creek to the northern boundary of Section 33, Block XII, Te Kawau Survey District; thence along the northern boundaries of Sections 33 and 31 to the Oroua River.
Such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and shall be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and one-half years, or until the loan is fully paid off. First year’s interest to be paid out of loan.

KAIRANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Kairanga County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest and also the other charges on a loan of six hundred pounds (£600), authorized to be raised by the Kairanga County Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of purchasing land frontage to Lots 4 and 3, part Sections 371 and 372, Blocks X and XIV, Kairanga Survey District, being by measurement 14·5 chains long by ½ chain wide, more or less, and forming and metalling 15 chains of road, and constructing 15 chains of footpath, more or less, frontage to Lots 4 and 3, part Sections 371 and 372, Blocks X and XIV, Kairanga Survey District, the road being at present known as the “Long Melford Road,” the said Kairanga County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of seven-sixteenths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the Melford Street Special Rating District, comprising the following area: Commencing at N.E. corner of Lot 2, Section 371, Block X, Kairanga Survey District; thence in a S.W. direction by N.W. boundary of said section to junction with Melford Street, across said street, and in a S.W. direction by N.W. boundaries of Lot 4 and 6 to N.W. corner of Lot 6; thence in a S.E. direction by W. boundary of last-named lot to junction with N.W. boundary of Lot 5, Section 372, Block XIV, Kairanga Survey District; thence by N.W. boundary of said lot and Lots 6 and 12, and by S.E. boundary of Lots 2, 3, and 4, Section 371, Block X, Kairanga Survey District,
