Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 9th August, 1920.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Raglan, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.

Ponganui Special Rating District.—Loan of £2,000 for the Purpose of forming and metalling the Ponganui Road in the Onewhero Riding.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that the following is the result of a poll of the ratepayers of the Ponganui Special Rating District taken on the 24th day of July, 1920, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of forming and metalling the Ponganui Road in the above-named Special Rating District of the County of Raglan: Total number of valid votes recorded, 13—for the proposal, 13; against the proposal, nil.

The total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

WAIMATUKU RIVER BOARD.

Result of Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Waimatuku River District was taken on Thursday, 8th July, 1920, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £8,000 sterling for carrying out improvement works on the Waimatuku River.

The number of votes for the proposal was 71, and the number of votes against the proposal was 24; informal votes, 1.

There being more than three-fifths of the votes polled in favour of the proposal, I declare the proposal carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Banks Peninsula Electric-power District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BANKS PENINSULA ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.

In the matter of the Electric Power Boards Act, 1918, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and the Acts amending the same respectively.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 22nd day of July, 1920, a proposal was submitted by the Banks Peninsula Electric-power Board to the ratepayers of the Banks Peninsula Electric-power District for raising a special loan of £100,000 to provide, firstly, for the purchase or acquisition of electric works within the Banks Peninsula Electric-power District; secondly, for the construction of electric works within the said district; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 331; against, 23.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Purchase of Sheep-skins and Wool by the Government.

WHEREAS by notice dated the 1st day of February, 1918, and published by the Controller of the Department of Imperial Government Supplies in the New Zealand Gazette of that date, it was notified that the New Zealand Government was prepared to purchase sheep-skins for and on behalf of His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom on the terms and conditions and in accordance with the scheme set forth in the aforementioned notice:

And whereas by a Proclamation made on the 2nd day of December, 1918, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of that date, it was proclaimed that all wool clipped in New Zealand at any time not later than one year after the 30th day of June, 1919, was thereby requisitioned by and on behalf of His Majesty in the manner and subject to the terms and conditions set out in the Schedule thereto:

Now, therefore, it is hereby notified, for the information of the public and of all persons concerned, as follows:—

(1.) The New Zealand Government is prepared to purchase, under the schemes set forth in the above-mentioned notice and Proclamation respectively, all wool and sheep-skins delivered for appraisement into registered Government Woolbrokers’ stores on or before the 30th day of September, 1920, but not including any wool of the 1920–1921 clip, and not including freezing-works’ slipe wool and freezing-works’ sheep-skins.

(2.) The purchase will be made for and on behalf of His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom on the terms and conditions and in accordance with the said schemes respectively.

(3.) Any such wool or sheep-skins delivered into registered Government Woolbrokers’ stores after the 30th day of September, 1920, will not be accepted under the said schemes or purchased by the New Zealand Government.

Prohibition of Money-order and Postal Correspondence for D. Glasser, 186 Liverpool Street, Hobart.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
