CHANGE OF SURNAME.
I, GEORGE HENRY NEWCOMB, of Gisborne, in the Dominion of New Zealand, Labourer, heretofore called or known by the name of Pollard, do hereby give public notice that on the first day of June, 1920, I formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the use of the surname of Pollard, and then assumed, adopted, and determined thenceforth in all deeds, records, documents, and proceedings, and in all dealings, transactions, matters, and things, and upon all other occasions whatsoever, to use and subscribe the surname of NEWCOMB, so that I may at all times thereafter be called, known, and designated by the said surname of NEWCOMB, and so that I and my heirs and issue lawfully begotten may at all times thereafter be called, known, and designated by the said surname of NEWCOMB; and I give further notice that by deed-poll bearing date the first day of June, 1920, I formally and absolutely renounced, relinquished, and abandoned the said surname of Pollard, and assumed, determined, and intended thenceforth to use and subscribe the surname of NEWCOMB.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1908, and in the matter of Parts Sections 604 and 605, Town of New Plymouth.
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the New Plymouth Borough Council proposes to provide land for the purpose of widening St. Aubyn Street in the Borough of New Plymouth, and for such purpose requires to take the following pieces of land:—
Firstly, all that area of land, being part of Section 605, Town of New Plymouth, and containing by admeasurement 3·46 perches, bounded towards the north-east by Queen Street, 25·76 links; towards the south-east by part of same Section 605, 131·34 links; towards the south-west by part of Section 604, 7·5 links; and towards the north-west by St. Aubyn Street, 130·07 links.
Secondly, all that area of land, being part of Section 604, Town of New Plymouth, being part of a right-of-way, and containing by admeasurement 0·12 perches, bounded towards the north-east by part of Section 605, 7·5 links; towards the south-east by part of Section 604, 10·66 links; towards the south-west by part of same Section 604, 6·38 links, and towards the north-west by St. Aubyn Street, 10·6 links.
Thirdly, all that area of land, being part of Section 604, Town of New Plymouth, containing by admeasurement 0·31 perch, bounded as follows: Commencing from a point on the south side of St. Aubyn Street 10·6 links from the north-east corner of same Section 604; thence bounded towards the north-east by part of same Section 604 (right-of-way) 6·38 links; towards the south-east by other part of same Section 604, 60·93 links, to St. Aubyn Street; and towards the north-west by St. Aubyn Street, 60·59 links, to the commencing-point.
A plan of the land required to be taken as aforesaid is deposited for public inspection at the office of the Town Clerk, situated in Liardet Street in the Borough of New Plymouth.
All persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said work or to the taking of the said land, and to send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Town Clerk of the Borough of New Plymouth.

RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION STRIKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf enabling by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and all other Acts it in that behalf enabling, the Raglan County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £5,500, authorized to be raised by the Raglan County Council, under the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908, the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and amendments thereto, and all other Acts (if any) it in that behalf enabling, and with the consent of the Governor-General in Council under section 20 of the Finance Act, 1919, as gazetted on pages 1809/10 of the New Zealand Gazette, 1920, for the purpose of forming and metalling various roads in the Karioi Riding of the County of Raglan (including compensation, if any, for any land taken for road purposes), the Raglan County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny and a halfpenny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the Karioi Riding of the County of Raglan.
The boundaries of the said Karioi Riding being as defined in Gazette No. 61, of the 31st day of July, 1902, at page 1613.
And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of January in each and every year during the currency of such loan, and the rate of interest to be paid to be four pounds ten shillings per centum per annum, together with an additional charge to provide the necessary sinking fund, or until the loan is fully paid off.

WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by section 18 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Waipa County Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing for the interest and other charges on a loan of £300, authorized to be raised by the said Council for the purpose of completing the metalling of roads in the Hamilton Riding, being 10 per cent. additional on a special loan of £3,000, authorized to be raised by a poll of the ratepayers of the Hamilton Riding, the said Waipa County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/180d. in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property in the Hamilton Riding; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of 36½ years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us, the undersigned, MONTROSE IRWIN MITCHINSON and HERBERT JAMES LEWIS, carrying on business as Land Agents at No. 205 Riddiford Street, Wellington, under the style or firm of “The Dominion Land and Estate Agency,” has been dissolved as from the 16th day of June, 1920.
All debts due to and owing by the said late firm will be received and paid respectively by the said MONTROSE IRWIN MITCHINSON, who will continue to carry on the said business at the above-mentioned address.
