county shall be divided into eight ridings, to be called respectively Mahia Riding, Nuhaka Riding, Tuhara Riding, Frasertown Riding, Ruakituri Riding, Waikaremoana Riding, Waiau Riding, and Mohaka Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  1. That the Wairoa County Council shall consist of eight members; each of the above-named ridings shall elect one Councillor.

  2. That the alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the 1st day of November, 1920.

SCHEDULE.

Mahia Riding.

All that portion of the Wairoa County, in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, Dominion of New Zealand, bounded as follows:—

Commencing at a point on the coast which marks the boundary between the Wairoa and Cook Counties, and following the coast-line in a south-westerly, north-westerly, north-easterly, and westerly direction to the Nuhaka River; thence in a general north-easterly direction following the Nuhaka River to its junction with the boundary between Section 9, Block 9; and Section 7, Block 6, Nukaka Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction following the boundary between Blocks 6 and 9 to its junction with Sections 6 and 7, Block 6, Nuhaka Survey District; thence in a generally easterly direction following the boundary between Sections 6 and 7, Block 6, Nuhaka Survey District, to its junction with the boundary of Block 1, Mahanga Survey District; thence following the boundary of the said Blocks 1, Mahanga, and 6, Nuhaka Survey Districts, in a northerly direction to its junction with Nuhaka North Survey District; thence in an easterly direction following the boundary between Nuhaka North and Mahanga Survey Districts; thence by boundary of Blocks 19 and 20 in a northerly direction to its junction with boundary of Section 2, Block 20, and Section 2 of 7, Block 19, Nuhaka North Survey District; thence in an easterly and northerly direction following road to its junction with boundary between Blocks 16 and 20, Nuhaka North Survey District; thence in a north-westerly direction following the boundary between Blocks 16 and 20 to its junction with Section 3 and Aruhetoronga A Block, Block 16, Nuhaka North Survey District; thence in a northerly direction following the boundary between Section 3 and Aruhetoronga A to its junction with boundary of Blocks 15 and 16, Nuhaka North Survey District; thence in a generally northerly direction following boundary between Blocks 15 and 16, Nuhaka North Survey District, to its junction with the boundary between Wairoa and Cook Counties; thence in a south-easterly direction following the boundary between Wairoa and Cook Counties to the coast, which is commencing-point: and also including within the boundaries of this riding the adjacent Island of Portland, being Waikawa No. 2, 306 acres 2 roods.

Nuhaka Riding.

All that portion of the Wairoa County, in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, Dominion of New Zealand, bounded as follows:—

Starting at the sea-coast where the Mahia Riding joins, and thence following the western boundary of the Mahia Riding as hereinbefore described to its junction with the boundary of Wairoa and Cook Counties; thence in a north-westerly direction following the boundary between Wairoa and Cook Counties to its junction with boundary between Nuhaka North and Opoiti Survey Districts; thence in southerly, south-easterly, south-westerly, and southerly directions following boundary between Opoiti and Nuhaka North Survey Districts to its junction with boundary between Section 1, Block 20, Opoiti Survey District, and Section 4, Block 17, Nuhaka North Survey District; thence continuing in a generally southerly and westerly direction following boundary between Section 4, Block 17, and Sections 2A 4, Block 17, Nuhaka North, and 2, Nuhaka Survey Districts, to its junction with Tahaenui River; thence following the Tahaenui River to its junction with the sea, and along the sea-coast in an easterly direction to boundary of Mahia Riding, the commencing-point.

Tuhara Riding.

All that portion of the Wairoa County, in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, Dominion of New Zealand, bounded as follows:—

Commencing at the sea-coast where the western boundary of Nuhaka Riding touches; thence following the western boundary of the Nuhaka Riding as hereinbefore described to its junction with boundary between Wairoa and Cook Counties; thence in a north-westerly direction following the boundaries of the Wairoa and Cook Counties to its junction with boundary between Blocks 7 and 8, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction following the boundary between Blocks 7 and 8, Opoiti Survey District, also boundary between Section 2D and Sections 2C and 2E, Blocks 6A and 7, Opoiti Survey District, to its junction with

boundary between Section 2C and Opoiti Block, Block 6A, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a south-westerly direction following the boundary between Section 2C and Opoiti Block to its junction with Mangapoike River; thence following the Mangapoike River in southerly and easterly directions to its junction between Blocks 10 and 11, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a southerly direction following the boundary between Blocks 10 and 11 to its junction with boundary between Sections 32A and 31A, Block 10, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a westerly direction following the boundary between Sections 31A and 32A to its junction with the boundary of Section 30A, Block 10, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a southerly direction following the boundary between Sections 30A and 31A, Block 10, Opoiti Survey District, to its junction with boundary between Blocks 10 and 14, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a general westerly direction following the boundary of Blocks 10 and 14, Opoiti Survey District, to its junction with Block 9, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a southerly direction following the boundary between Blocks 9 and 14 to its junction with Block 13, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction following the boundary between Blocks 14 and 13 to its junction with Kauhauroa Stream; thence following the Kauhauroa Stream to its junction with the north-east boundary of military Section 121, Block 14, Opoiti Survey District; thence following the north-east boundary of military Section 121 to its northern corner; thence in a south-westerly direction following the north-west boundary of military Section 121, Block 14, and north-west boundaries of military Sections 120, 119, 118, 117, and 116, Block 13, Opoiti Survey District, to the junction with boundary between military Sections 115 and 116; thence following the boundary between military Sections 115 and 116 in a south-easterly direction to its junction with Kauhauroa Stream; thence following the Kauhauroa Stream to its junction with Papawainau Stream, and along Papawainau Stream in a south-easterly direction to its junction with the north-west corner of Section 4, Block 17, Opoiti Survey District; thence following the west and south-west boundary of Section 4, and south-west boundary of Section 5, Block 17, Opoiti Survey District, to the boundaries between Blocks 2 and 3, Clyde Survey District; thence in a generally southerly direction following the boundaries between Blocks 2 and 3, 2 and 7, and 6 and 7, Clyde Survey District, to the sea-coast, and thence in an easterly direction following the coast-line to the junction with Nuhaka Riding, the commencing-point.

Frasertown Riding.

All that portion of the Wairoa County, in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, Dominion of New Zealand, bounded as follows:—

Commencing at a point where the west boundary of the Tuhara Riding, hereinbefore described, joins the sea-coast, and thence following the west boundary of the Tuhara Riding to the junction of Blocks 9, 10, and 14, Opoiti Survey District; thence in a northerly direction following the eastern boundary of Block 9, Opoiti Survey District, to the north-east corner of Section 7, Block 9; thence in a general westerly direction following the northern boundary of Sections 7, 6, and 8, and military Sections 38, 39, and 40, all in Block 9, Opoiti Survey District, to the Wairoa River; thence following the Wairoa River in a general southerly direction to its junction with the boundary of the Wairoa Borough; and thence following the west, north, and east boundaries of Wairoa Borough to the sea-coast; and thence along the sea-coast in an easterly direction to the west boundary of the Tuhara Riding, the commencing-point.

Ruakituri Riding.

All that portion of the Wairoa County, in the Land District of Hawke’s Bay, Dominion of New Zealand, bounded as follows:—

Commencing at the point where the north boundary of the Frasertown Riding joins the Wairoa River, and thence following the north and east boundaries of Frasertown Riding to the junction with the north-west boundary of the Tuhara Riding; thence following the north-west boundary of Tuhara Riding to the boundary of Wairoa and Cook Counties; thence in a general north-west, west, and southerly directions, following the northern boundary of the Wairoa County, to a point where the county boundary leaves the western boundary of Block 17, Tuahu Survey District; thence in a southerly direction following the west boundaries of Blocks 17 and 18, Tuahu Survey District, to the Anianiwa Stream and the Gisborne-Waikaremoana Road; thence in a north-easterly direction following the Gisborne-Waikaremoana Road to the eastern boundary of Block 9, Tuahu Survey District; thence in a southerly direction following the western boundary of Block 10, Tuahu Survey District, to the south-west corner; and thence in an easterly direction following the southern boundaries of Blocks 10 and 11, Tuahu Survey District, to the north-west corner of Block 18; thence in a general southerly direction following the west boundaries of Blocks 18 and 19, Tuahu Survey District,
