UNITED STATES.

ATLANTIC COAST.—RHODE ISLAND.—JUDITH POINT LIGHT.—
ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.

Position.—41° 21½′ N., long. 71° 29′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. F., 65 ft., vis. 13 m.
Alteration.—The character of the light has been altered
from flashing white to fixed white.
Remarks.—The light has a power of 2,900 candles.

VIRGINIA.—CHESAPEAKE BAY APPROACH.—SHOAL REPORTED.

Position (approximate).—Lat. 36° 49′ N., long. 75° 33′ W.
Depth.—4½ fathoms, dark sand.
Remarks.—The accurate position of this shoal has not been
ascertained. The position given above is to be encircled by
a danger line on the charts with the note “ 4½ fathoms reported
hereabouts (1920).”

SOUTH AMERICA.

CARIBBEAN COAST.—COLOMBIA.—GALERA DE ZAMBA.—LIGHT
DESTROYED.

Position.—On the slope of Morro de la Venta. Lat. 10°
41½′ N., long. 75° 20′ W.
Description.—A flashing white light.
Remarks.—The light was destroyed by fire, and a note
“ Destroyed (1920) ” is to be placed against it on the charts.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.

CURACOA REEF AND SHOAL, TAFAHI AND NIUATOBUTABU.—
AMENDED POSITIONS.

Position.—Tafahi, lat. 15° 52′ S., long. 173° 44′ W.
Details.—According to recent observations the correct
positions of Curacoa Reef and Shoal, Tafahi (Boscawen)
and Niuatobutabu (Keppel) Islands, are as shown in red on
the reproduction of portions of Charts Nos. 1829 and 780.

MALACCA STRAIT.

PENANG HARBOUR.—LIGHT-BEACON AND BUOY ESTABLISHED.

(a.) Light-beacon established :

Position.—In the position of the beacon shown on the
chart. Lat. 5° 24′ 20″ N., long. 100° 20′ 50″ E.
Description.—A light-beacon painted in black and
white horizontal bands, with white ball topmark,
exhibiting a fixed white light.

(b.) Buoy established :

Position.—Lat. 5° 23′ 23″ N., long. 100° 21′ 30″ E.
Description.—A white conical buoy, numbered “ 2.”
Note.—The positions given refer to Chart No. 3732.

SPAIN.

WEST COAST.—VIGO BAY.—PUNTA ROBALEIRA.—LIGHT
ESTABLISHED.

Position.—Lat. 42° 15′ 1″ N., long. 8° 52′ 25″ W.
Abridged Description.—Lt. gp. fl. (4), W.R., ev. 10 secs.,
78 ft., vis. 14, 11 m.
Characteristics :

Character.—A group flashing light, with white and red
sectors, showing four flashes every ten seconds, thus—
flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ;
flash ½ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ½ sec., eclipse 5 secs.
Elevation.—78 ft.
Visibility.—White light, 14 miles ; red light, 11 miles.
Sectors.—White from 298° to 318° ; red thence to 109° ;
white thence to 165°.
Structure.—White tower with red lantern, 21 ft. in height.

Land in Taranaki Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned
section having been declared forfeited by resolution
of the Taranaki Land Board, the said land has thereby
reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land
Act, 1908.

SECTION 4, Block XVI, Pouatu District. Previously held
by Edwin Edgeworth Blunt. Tenure : R.L. Reason for
forfeiture : Abandonment of holding.

NOTICE is hereby given that His Excellency the Governor-
General has, in terms of section 120 of the Land Act,
1908, approved of Section 5, Heddon Bush Township, con-
taining 5 acres, being reclassified as rural land.

Land in the Taranaki Land District for Sale or Lease to
Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 29th June, 1920.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
are open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers
Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder ; and
applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey
Office, New Plymouth, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the
23rd August, 1920.

The land may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right
of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years
and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, on Wednesday, the 25th August, 1920, at
10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examina-
tion of applicants.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Araheke Settlement.—Inglewood County.—Block X, Paritutu
Survey District.

SECTION 1s : Area, 96 acres 1 rood ; capital value, £2,410 ;
annual instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest),
£120 10s. ; half-yearly rent on lease, £54 4s. 6d.

Section 2s : Area, 96 acres ; capital value, £2,230 ; annual
instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £111 10s. ;
half-yearly rent on lease, £50 3s. 6d.

Section 3s : Area, 99 acres 2 roods ; capital value, £3,270
(buildings, £500) ; annual instalment on deferred payment
(excluding interest), £188 10s. ; half-yearly rent on lease,
£73 11s. 6d. (interest and sinking fund on buildings, £25 5s.).

NOTE.—The deferred-payment instalment includes payment
of principal and interest on buildings.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements not included in capital value on Sec-
tion 3s comprise seven-roomed house, washhouse, and cow-
