Directing Sale of Railway Land under the Public Works Act, 1908.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fifteenth day of June, 1920.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the thirtieth section of the Public Works Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that if it is found that any land held, taken, purchased, or acquired at any time under this or any other Act or Provincial Ordinance, or otherwise howsoever, for any public work is not required for such public work the Governor-General may, by an Order in Council publicly notified and gazetted, cause the same to be sold under the conditions set forth in the said Act:

And whereas the piece of land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired for the purposes of the Kaipara-Waikato Railway:

And whereas the said piece of land is not now required for the purposes of the said Kaipara-Waikato Railway, and the Minister of Railways has recommended that this Order in Council should be issued directing such parcel of land to be sold:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and direct the sale of the said land.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land: 1 acre 3 roods 26 perches.

Portion of railway reserve (part Allotment 9, Pukekohe Parish), Block XV, Drury Survey District, Franklin County. (S.O. 20813, blue.)

In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly. delineated on the plan marked W.R. 27547, deposited in the office of the Minister of Railways at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple.

Derwent Street, in the City of Wellington, exempted from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fifteenth day of June, 1920.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of any road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor-General in Council:

And whereas the Wellington City Council, being the local authority having control of the street described in the Schedule hereto, has passed the following resolution—viz., “The Wellington City Council, being the local authority having control of the streets in the City of Wellington, hereby declares that the provisions of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, does not apply to Derwent Street in the said city”:

And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution.

SCHEDULE.

THE whole of that street, situated in the Wellington Land District, City of Wellington, known as Derwent Street, Island Bay, commencing at its junction with a street known as The Esplanade, and terminating at its junction with Humber Street, with the exception of that portion of the eastern side of the said street exempted by an Order in Council dated the 29th day of November, 1915, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 138, of the 2nd day of December, 1915. As the said street is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 47665, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured pink.

Fixing the Maximum Price of Butter.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fifteenth day of June, 1920.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the sixteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, the maximum price of butter was fixed:

And whereas it is desirable on account of increased charges to alter the maximum price as then fixed:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, and in pursuance of the authority conferred by the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, doth hereby revoke the aforesaid Order in Council, and doth hereby fix and determine the maximum price of butter for consumption in New Zealand in accordance with the provisions of the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

  1. THE maximum prices herein fixed and determined shall apply to all butter manufactured during the currency of the existing contract with the Imperial Government terminating on 31st July, 1920, whether sold before or after that date.

  2. The maximum price of such butter sold in boxes in bulk ex store or f.o.b. coastal steamer shall be 1s. 5¾d. per pound.

  3. The maximum price of such butter as sold by the retailer shall be 1s. 9d. per pound.

Vesting the Control of a Reserve in the Wairau Valley Public Hall Board.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fifteenth day of June, 1920.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto was by Warrant published in Gazette of the nineteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, permanently reserved for a site for a public hall: And whereas it is expedient that the control of the said reserve should be vested in a special Board as hereinafter provided:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section two of the Public Reserves and Domains Amendment Act, 1914, doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously amended or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,—

JAMES OWEN ANSTISS,
GEORGE HOWARD BROADBRIDGE,
JAMES WILLIAM BROWN,
CORNELIUS O’LEARY,
JOSEPH PARFITT, and
CHARLES DAVIES TIMMS,

who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Wairau Valley Public Hall Board (hereinafter referred to as “the Board”), with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the last Saturday in each month at 8 o’clock p.m., at the Wairau Valley Schoolhouse, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the 28th day of June, 1920.

  2. The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned,
