Regulations.—Salaries of Public-school Teachers, and House Allowances.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this eighth day of June, 1920.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Education Act, 1914, as amended by the Education Amendment Act, 1919, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the amendments set forth in Schedule I hereunder to the regulations in Part I of Division I of the Order in Council dated the seventeenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and the amendments set forth in Schedule II hereunder to the regulations in Part VII of Part I of the Order in Council dated the seventeenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

SCHEDULE I.

THE regulations relating to the salaries of public-school teachers, made by Order in Council dated 17th November, 1919, are hereby amended as follows :—

  1. By adding the following proviso to subclause (1) of clause 2 :—
    “Provided that the addition to the salary payable under this clause to a certified teacher who has been a member of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force shall not be less than £30 if he is qualified, with respect to teaching and military service in accordance with subclause (3) of clause 3 of the regulations, to receive the benefit under paragraph (iv) of Schedule VI.”

SCHEDULE II.

THE regulations relating to the house allowance of public-school teachers, made by the Order in Council dated 17th December, 1918, are hereby amended by adding the following proviso :—
“Provided that allowances shall be half the amounts prescribed above in the case of any school where a movable residence is provided.”

Validating Proceedings in connection with a Loan of £3,000 proposed to be raised by the Wairarapa South County Council.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this first day of June, 1920.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Wairarapa South County Council, acting under and in pursuance of paragraph (e) of section sixteen of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, lately proposed to raise a loan of three thousand pounds for the purpose of metalling the Admiral Road in the Gladstone Riding :

And whereas the ratepayers’ consent given under paragraph (e) of section sixteen aforesaid is irregular, in that several of the subscribing ratepayers have attested the signatures of the other subscribers thereto :

And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been misled by the said irregularity, and it is expedient to validate the same :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section one hundred and eleven of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the ratepayers’ consent to the raising of the said loan shall be valid to all intents and purposes as though the same had been properly witnessed, and that the validity of the proceedings in connection with the said loan shall not be called into question by reason only of the irregularity aforesaid.

Validating Proceedings in connection with a Loan of £3,000 to be raised by the Waipukurau County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this first day of June, 1920.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Waipukurau County Council, acting under and in pursuance of paragraph (e) of section sixteen of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, lately proposed to raise a loan of three thousand pounds for the purpose of forming, grading, and metalling roads in the Purimu Riding :

And whereas the ratepayers’ consent given under paragraph (e) of section sixteen aforesaid is irregular, in that several of the subscribing ratepayers have attested the signatures of the other subscribers thereto :

And whereas the special order authorizing the raising of the said loan is irregular, in so far that public notification of the time and place fixed for the confirmation of the said special order authorizing the said loan was given four times, but such notification did not comply with the provisions of section ninety-seven of the Counties Act, 1908, which provides that notification shall be given once in each of the four weeks immediately preceding the day on which the subsequent meeting was held, no notice appearing within the second week preceding the tenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty :

And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been misled by the said irregularities or defects, and it is expedient to validate same :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section one hundred and eleven of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
