Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.
Wellington, 2nd June, 1920.
THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the County of Franklin, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Koheroa-Kaiawa-Miranda Special Rating Area of Franklin County was taken on the 19th day of May, 1920, on the proposal of the Franklin County Council to borrow the sum of £3,000 for the following purposes:-
(a.) Construction of bridge over Mangatangi Stream, and approaches thereto . . . 1,000
(b.) Construction of wharf at New Brighton, and approach thereto . . . 1,000
(c.) Construction of Kaiawa to New Brighton Road 300
(d.) Construction of bridge over Canoe Creek, Mangatangi to Miranda Road . . 250
(e.) Construction of approach to Miranda Wharf . 250
(f.) Gravelling of Maungatawhiri to Mangatangi Road through Koheroa Gum Reserve . . 200
Total amount of loan .. £3,000
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 36, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Election of Member of Hawke's Bay Land Board.—Result of Poll.
I, WILLIAM FAIRCHILD MARSH, Returning Officer for the election of a member to the Hawke's Bay Land Board, do hereby notify, in accordance with section 41 of the Land Act, 1908, and the regulations thereunder, the result of the poll taken by me on the 26th day of May, 1920, for the election of a member of the Hawke's Bay Land Board to be as follows:-

Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Wellington for the Purposes of a Public Trust Office.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a Public Trust office in the City of Wellington; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken.
And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Works Office in the Government Buildings at Wellington, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to he Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 15·3 perches.
Being Section 7, Block III, Thorndon Reclamation, City of Wellington.
In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 48610, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged red.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of all Shops in the Uawa County, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Uawa County, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows--on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 8 p.m., with the following exceptions-
(1.) On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the months of June, July, and August the closing-hour shall be 5 p.m.;
(2.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 11 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908) Saturday as the statutory closing-day the closing-hour for any such shop on Wednesdays shall be 6 p.m. and on Fridays 8 p.m.; provided, however, that during the months of June, July, and August the closing-hour for any such shop on Wednesdays shall be 5 p.m.;
(3.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 19 of the above-mentioned Act) any of the special days mentioned therein other than Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in any week, the closing-hour on Wednesday in that week for any such shop shall be 6 p.m.; provided that if such special day should occur during the months of June, July, or August the closing-hour on Wednesday in that week for any such shop shall be 5 p.m.;
(4.) Should any of the special days mentioned in exception (3) hereof fall on Saturday in any week, then and in such case the closing-hour on Friday in that week for any shop that is closed at not later than 1 p.m. on such special day shall be 8 p.m.;
(5.) On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year's Day the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m. ;
And whereas the Uawa County Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Uawa County:
Now, therefore, I William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 1st day of June, 1920, all the shops in the Uawa County shall be closed accordingly.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 25th July, 1912, fixing the closing-hours of all shops in Tolaga Riding of the Cook County is hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice:

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of (1) Pork-butchers' Shops and (2) Cooked-meat Shops in the City of Auckland, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the (1) pork-butchers' shops and (2) cooked-meat shops in the City of Auckland, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows--subject to closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., on Fridays at 9 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10 p.m., with the following exceptions-
(1.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 18 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908) Friday as the statutory closing-day, then the closing-hour for any such shop on Thursday shall be 9 p.m. ;
(2.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 18 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908) Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then the closing-hour for any such shop on Thursday shall be 9 p.m. and on Friday 10 p.m. ;
(3.) On the working-day immediately preceding any of the special days mentioned in section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m. ;
(4.) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, Saturday as the statutory closing-day in any week, then the closing-hour for any such shop on Thursday in that week shall be 9 p.m. :
And whereas the Auckland City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the (1) pork-butchers' shops and (2) cooked-meat shops within the City of Auckland:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 1st day of June, 1920, all the (1) pork-butchers' shops and (2) cooked-meat shops in the City of Auckland shall be closed accordingly.
