Approval of Fees for Licensing of Vehicles fixed by By-law.— Uawa County Council.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 107 of the Counties Act, 1908, that so much of the by-laws made by the Uawa County Council, and sealed on the 24th day of January, 1920, as appoints the several sums to be paid to the Uawa County funds for the licensing of vehicles plying for hire has this day been approved by His Excellency the Governor-General.

IT is hereby notified, in accordance with section 107 of the Counties Act, 1908, that so much of the by-laws made by the Bay of Islands County Council, and sealed on the 26th day of November, 1919, as appoints the several sums to be paid to the Bay of Islands County funds for the licensing of vehicles plying for hire has this day been approved by His Excellency the Governor-General.

Purchase of Butter by the Government.
WHEREAS by notice dated 18th March, 1919, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of 19th March, 1919, the terms and conditions on which butter would be purchased by the New Zealand Government on behalf of His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom were publicly notified :
And whereas it is desired to amend the said notice in the manner hereinafter appearing :
Now, therefore, it is notified that clause (ii) of paragraph (d) of section 16 of the said notice is hereby amended by adding after “April, 1918,” the following words: “or such prices in lieu thereof as the Controller shall sanction.”

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Awakino, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

AWAKINO COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Marakopa Riding of the County of Awakino taken on the 12th day of May, 1920, on the proposal of the Awakino County Council to borrow the sum of £450 for the purpose of acquiring harbour-works—to wit, the Marakopa Wharf at Marakopa, from the trustees in whom the said wharf is now vested—the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 32, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 12. The number of informal votes recorded was nil.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

lished in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Result of Poll to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 12th day of May, 1920, on a proposal to raise a special loan of £72,000 for the following purposes :—
(a.) To provide additions and extensions to the Council’s electric lighting and power works either within or without the borough.
(b.) To supply electricity.
(c.) To acquire or provide in connection with such additions and extensions, lands, easements, and appurtenances, and buildings, tunnels, weirs, reservoirs, engines, machinery, and other things.
(d.) To acquire or provide in connection with the Council’s electric lighting and power works and such additions and extensions, lands and buildings for the purpose of “workers’ dwellings” within the meaning of section 325 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and generally to exercise the powers conferred by the said section 325.
(e.) To pay compensation to any person or persons injuriously affected.
(f.) Any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of the above-mentioned purposes.
The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was 781. The number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was 96. The total number of valid votes recorded was 877.
I therefore declare the said proposal carried.

NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Result of Poll to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the 12th day of May, 1920, on a proposal to raise a special loan of £57,000 for the following purposes :—
(a.) £42,000 for forming and re-forming streets, carriageways, and footways, and generally for improving the streets in the borough, for purchasing, taking, or otherwise acquiring necessary land, buildings, machinery, plant, and material therefor, for payment of compensation to persons injuriously affected thereby, generally for exercising the powers conferred by Part XXII of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, or any enactment amending, extending, or modifying the same, and for any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of the above-mentioned purposes.
(b.) £2,000 for providing, erecting, and constructing within the borough a privy or privies or other convenience or conveniences for public accommodation, for purchasing, taking, or otherwise acquiring necessary land, buildings, machinery, plant, and material therefor, for payment of compensation to persons injuriously affected thereby, and for any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of the above-mentioned purposes.
(c.) £10,000 for providing additions and extensions to the borough waterworks as defined by section 229 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, for purchasing, taking, or otherwise acquiring necessary land, buildings, machinery, plant, and material therefor, for payment of compensation to persons injuriously affected thereby, and for any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of the above-mentioned purposes.
(d.) £3,000 for providing, constructing, and placing buildings, engines, machinery, drains, and other things necessary for the good and efficient drainage of the borough, for purchasing, taking, or otherwise acquiring necessary land, buildings, machinery, plant, and materials therefor, for payment of compensation to persons injuriously affected thereby, generally for exercising the powers conferred by Part XXIII of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, or any enactment amending, extending, or modifying the same, and for any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of the above-mentioned purposes.
The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was 724. The number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was 151. The total number of valid votes recorded was 875.
I therefore declare the said proposal carried.
