Lands temporarily reserved in the North Auckland, Auckland,
Wellington, and Marlborough Land Districts.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

And whereas by the sixty-ninth section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, it is further provided that the Governor-General may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of land acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Acts, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the North Auckland, Auckland, Wellington, and Marlborough Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less, being Section 61s, Mangateparu Settlement. Bounded towards the north by a township reserve, towards the east by a public road, and towards the south and west by Section 26s, Mangateparu Settlement. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/6/247, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged purple. For a site for a public school.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres 1 rood 38 perches, more or less, being Section 8, Block I, Hingaia Township. Bounded towards the north-east by part of Section 23, Sections 24, 25, 26, and 27, Block I, aforesaid, and Te Tahoe Road, 510.9 and 360.2 links respectively; towards the south-east by a public road, 136.7, 663, and 76.3 links; and towards the north-west by Section 7, Block I aforesaid, 793.1 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/1/250, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red (Auckland plan 17649, blue). For a roadman's paddock.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section 19, Block II, Makotuku Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Ohura Road, 500 links; towards the south-east by Section 14, 500 links; towards the south-west and north-west by Section 13, 500 links and 500 links respectively: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on a plan marked L. and S. 6/1/248, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For a resting-place for travelling stock.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.

All that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section 4, Block XV, Town of Seddon. Bounded towards the north-east by Section 5, 250 links; towards the south-east by Section 7, 100 links; towards the south-west by Section 3, 250 links; and towards the north-west by Weld Street, 100 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 23/625, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For an addition to a site for a police-station.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this thirteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty.

Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations for the New Zealand Permanent Forces amended.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke certain regulations shown in the Schedule hereto, and do also make additional regulations as shown in the said Schedule; and I do hereby declare that such revocation shall take effect and such regulations come into force as from the dates shown in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

THE following regulations are hereby revoked as from the dates shown:

Regulation 117, revoked as from the 1st January, 1920.

Regulation 125, revoked as from the 15th April, 1920.

The following regulations are hereby made, to take effect from the dates specified:

(From 1st January, 1920.)

  1. The maximum period for which travelling allowance may be paid to all ranks temporarily transferred for duty at any station outside their own headquarters shall be: Married, twenty-eight days; single, seven days.

(From 15th April, 1920.)

  1. Before removal is undertaken, tenders must be called from at least two carriers, and submitted through the usual channel to the G.O. in charge Administration, who will authorize acceptance of the more suitable tender. Officers commanding districts must, before making their recommendations to General Headquarters, satisfy themselves that every endeavour has been made to obtain the most favourable quotation.

The General Officer in charge Administration may, in exceptional circumstances, authorize a cash payment to the officer, non-commissioned officer, or man concerned, who will then make his own arrangements as to the removal of his household effects. Such authorizations will, however, be strictly limited.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this thirteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty.

Warrant authorizing the Featherston County Council to construct a Bridge over the Huangarua River on the Martinborough-Ponatahi Road, in the Featherston County, and apportioning the Cost.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and nineteen of the Public Works Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that in any case where the local authority of any district desires to construct a bridge or to establish a ferry or ford in any position that will, in its opinion, be of advantage or benefit to the whole or any considerable portion of the inhabitants of an adjacent district as well as to the inhabitants of its own district, and where it is, in the opinion of such local authority, reasonable that the local authority of such adjacent district should contribute to the cost of constructing or establishing the said bridge, ferry, or ford, the provisions of the said section shall have effect:

And whereas the Featherston County Council has given notice and taken the steps required by the said Act, and has made application to the Governor-General to authorize the construction of the bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto, and hereinafter referred to as "the said work," and to apportion the cost of constructing and establishing the said work between the said Council and the Wairarapa South County Council:

And whereas it has been agreed by and between the Featherston County Council and the Wairarapa South County Council that the cost of constructing the said work shall be borne by the said Councils in the following proportions—viz., the Featherston County Council shall pay ninety per centum and the Wairarapa South County Council shall pay ten per centum of such cost respectively:

And whereas I am of opinion that the said work should be done, and that it is expedient to make provision under the said Act for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter set forth:
