Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Boot and Shoe Dealers’ Shops in the Borough of Palmerston North, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the boot and shoe dealers’ shops in the Borough of Palmerston North, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the district shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 6 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 11 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday shall be 5.30 p.m. and on Friday shall be 6 p.m.; (2) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe, pursuant to section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, any of the days therein mentioned other than Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in any week, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday in any such week shall be 6 p.m., and if such day should fall on Saturday the closing-hour on Friday in any such week shall be 6 p.m., and, further, if such special day should fall on Friday the closing-hour on Saturday for those shops that are usually closed for the half-holiday on Saturday shall be 6 p.m.; (3) subject to exception (5) hereof, the working-days (other than the days observed as statutory closing-days) in the period from the 20th day of December to the 30th day of December (both dates inclusive), when the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.; (4) Thursday and Friday of Spring Show week, when the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.; (5) the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 10.30 p.m.:

And whereas the Palmerston North Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the boot and shoe dealers’ shops within the Borough of Palmerston North:

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 28th July, 1910, fixing the closing-hours of boot and shoe shops in the Borough of Palmerston North is hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of (1) Drapers’, (2) Clothiers and Mercers’, and (3) Boot Retailers’ Shops in the City of Dunedin, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1) draper, (2) clothier and mercer, and (3) boot retailer in the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5.30 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.; (2) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe (pursuant to section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908) any of the days therein mentioned other than Saturday as the statutory closing-day in any week, then and in such case the closing-hour on Saturday for any such shop in that week shall be 6 p.m., and should such special day fall on Friday the closing-hour on the working-day immediately preceding such Friday shall, subject to exception (1) hereof, be 9 p.m.:

And whereas the Dunedin City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1) draper, (2) clothier and mercer, and (3) boot retailer within the City of Dunedin:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 19th day of April, 1920, all the shops in each of the trades of (1) draper, (2) clothier and mercer, and (3) boot retailer within the City of Dunedin shall be closed accordingly.

Redefining Boundaries of the Boroughs of Devonport and Takapuna.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the Borough of Devonport are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by an Order in Council dated the 16th day of March, 1920, made under the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 28, of the 18th day of March, 1920.

And also, in pursuance of the said section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the Borough of Takapuna affected by the said Order in Council dated the 16th day of March, 1920, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF DEVONPORT.

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on low-water mark of Ngataringa Bay in line with the south-eastern boundary “northern portion” of Lot IX of Section 1, Parish of Takapuna, and proceeding to and along the said boundary and the south-eastern boundary of Subdivision 36 of Lot VII; thence along the north-eastern boundary of the said subdivision for a distance of 200 links; thence along a right line bearing 75° east of north to the main Devonport-Waiwera Road, and across the said road to the south-western corner of Lot VI; thence along the southern boundary of said Lot VI and its production to low-water mark of the Hauraki Gulf; thence along the low-water mark of the said Hauraki Gulf and of Waitemata Harbour and Ngataringa Bay to the point of commencement: be the aforesaid bearing and distance more or less.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF TAKAPUNA.

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of Section 104, Parish of Takapuna, and proceeding thence along the southern side of Archer Road to the northernmost corner of the said section; thence along a right line to the south-western corner of Section 12, and along the northern side of the road forming the southern boundary of that section; thence across that road and along the north-western boundary of Section 3 to Gordon Avenue; thence along the north-western side of said Gordon Avenue to and across Beaconsfield Road (Devonport-Waiwera Road); thence along the north-eastern side of that road to Sea View Road, and along the north-western side of Sea View Road to and down a stream crossing at the westernmost corner of Allotment 25 of Section 5 to the high-water mark of the Wairau Stream; thence along the high-water mark to the south-eastern corner of Allotment 23 of Section 5, and across the mouth of the said Wairau Stream and along the high-water mark of the Hauraki Gulf to the southern boundary of Lot VI of Sec-
