Inspector for the Purposes of the Stock Act, 1908, appointed.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointment in the Public Service:—

I HEREBY notify, for public information, that as Anzac Day this year falls on a Sunday it is specially fitting, in remembrance of the notable deeds of the Australians and our own New Zealand soldiers on that memorable and historical occasion, that special services of public worship be held by all religious denominations, and I therefore suggest to all Ministers of religion and all congregations to hold such services at such hours during the forenoon or afternoon as are found convenient.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Thames, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

THAMES COUNTY.
Result of Poll on the Proposal to raise a Loan of £20,000.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Puriri Bridge Special Rating Area, County of Thames, taken on the 26th day of March, 1920, on the proposal of the Thames County Council to raise a loan of £20,000 for the purpose of constructing a bridge across the Waihou River at Puriri, with a toll-gate thereon, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 94, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 53; informal, 1; total, 148.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Milton, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

MILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Results of Polls on Proposals to raise Loans.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Milton taken on the 26th day of March, 1920, on the proposal of the Milton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £16,523 for the purpose of constructing waterworks for the supply of pure water for the said borough, the number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was 188, and the number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was 72.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Dated this 29th day of March, 1920.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Milton taken on the 26th day of March, 1920, on the proposal of the Milton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £34,423 for the following purposes:—
(a.) £16,523 for the construction of waterworks for the supply of pure water for the borough;
(b.) £17,900 for the construction of works for the efficient drainage of the borough;
the number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was 162, and the number of valid votes recorded against the proposal was 96.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Appointing Wednesday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Separate District of the Borough of Eketahuna.
WHEREAS by section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, it is enacted that the result of every poll taken in any separate or combined district under the authority of that section shall be notified to the Minister of Labour in the manner therein provided, and the Minister shall thereupon appoint the day determined by the result of such poll as the statutory closing-day for that district:
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Eketahuna has notified to me that the result of the poll taken in the separate district of the Borough of Eketahuna is in favour of Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in that separate district:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred on me by the said section 17, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the separate district of the Borough of Eketahuna.
Dated at Wellington this 7th day of April, 1920.

NOTE.—This notice takes effect from the 1st day of June, 1920, and continues in force till another day is appointed by a similar poll [section 17 (11)].
Appointing Thursday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Separate District of the Borough of Wairoa.
WHEREAS by section 17 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, it is enacted that the result of every poll taken in any separate or combined district under the authority of that section shall be notified to the Minister of Labour in the manner therein provided, and the Minister shall thereupon appoint the day determined by the result of such poll as the statutory closing-day for that district:
