Revoking the Vesting in the Rangataua Town Hall Corporation
of a Reserve in Block III, Town of Rangataua, Wellington
Land District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this first day
of April, 1920.
Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE W. F. MASSEY, P.C., PRESIDING
IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto
was vested in the Rangataua Town Hall Corporation,
in trust, for a site for a mechanics' institute and library, by
an Order in Council dated the twenty-first day of November,
one thousand nine hundred and ten, and published in New
Zealand Gazette No. 103, of the first day of December, one
thousand nine hundred and ten, in pursuance of section four
of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, but a certificate of title has not issued in respect of the said reserve:
And whereas it is expedient that the said Order in Council
should be revoked, and the trustees of the said Rangataua
Town Hall Corporation have duly consented to such revocation:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
and in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by subsection two of section three of
the Public Reserves and Domains Amendment Act, 1914,
doth hereby revoke the Order in Council dated the twenty-first day of November, one thousand nine hundred and ten,
hereinbefore referred to.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing
by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section
No. 19, Block III, Town of Rangataua. Bounded towards
the north-west by Section No. 21; Block III, Town of
Rangataua; towards the north-east by Nei Street; towards
the south-east by Section No. 17 of said Block III; and
towards the south-west by Section No. 18 of Block III
aforesaid. As the same is delineated on the plan marked
L. 5222/3, deposited in the Head Office, Department of
Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Regulations restricting Use of Private Boxes and Telephones.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of March, 1920.

THE HONOURABLE SIR WILLIAM FRASER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by Orders in Council dated respectively the
seventeenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and ten, and the first day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the eighteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and ten, and the second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, respectively, regulations were made under the authority of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), inter alia, prescribing conditions under which private boxes are held and telephone-exchange connections granted: And whereas it is expedient to amend the said regulations as hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said
Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke
the regulation numbered five under the heading “Private
Boxes and Call-boxes and Private Bags” in the Schedule to
the above-recited Order in Council of the seventeenth day
of January, one thousand nine hundred and ten, and the
regulation numbered five under the heading “Telephone
Exchanges” in the Schedule to the above-recited Order in
Council of the first day of November, one thousand nine
hundred and eleven, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make
the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth
order that the regulations hereby made shall come into force
on the date of the publication of this Order in Council in the
New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
PRIVATE BOXES.
5. No private box can be held in the joint names of a number of persons unless it is known that the applicants are in business partnership. Private persons are not permitted to join in renting a private box. Subject to the above restrictions, any person to whom exception is not taken by the Postmaster-General may have a private box who is willing to pay the appointed fee. No private box may be held for the purpose of conducting a betting business; and if any box is known to be used for such purpose, or if the holder of a box is believed to conduct any such business, the holder may be deprived of the use of the box without notice. No person shall be permitted to engage a private box for Sunday or for a certain day or certain days only.
TELEPHONE EXCHANGE CONNECTIONS.
5. The Minister of Telegraphs may refuse to connect with the telephone exchange and may disconnect from the telephone exchange any place of business, house, or premises which in the opinion of the Minister is or are used for any illegal, immoral, or improper purpose, and may, either with or without previous notice, exclude from the telephone exchange any subscriber who allows the telephone instruments in his custody or control to be damaged or destroyed, or put to any improper use, and may remove or cause to be removed any instruments allotted to the use of such subscriber. Any person who uses or allows to be used a telephone for the purpose of making a bet, inscribing a betting transaction, or otherwise for the purpose of gambling on the result of a horse-race or other sport or pastime, shall be regarded as putting the telephone to an improper use. No person shall have any claim for damages or otherwise whatsoever in consequence of the refusal of the said Minister to connect any place of business, house, or premises with the exchange for any of the causes aforesaid, or in consequence of the removal of any instruments, or the exclusion of any subscriber as aforesaid.

Napier Fire District constituted.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of March, 1920.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR WILLIAM FRASER PRESIDING IN
COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section four of the Fire Brigades Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor-General may by Order in Council, on the application of any Borough Council, declare the district within the jurisdiction of such Borough Council to be a fire district under the said Act: And whereas an application has been made by the Napier Borough Council in accordance with the provisions of the said Act, and it appears expedient to grant the said application:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare the Borough of Napier to be a fire district under the said Act.
