Advertisement of Cancelling.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Registrar of Friendly Societies has, pursuant to section 70 of the Friendly Societies Act, 1909, by writing under his hand dated this eighteenth day of December, 1919, cancelled the registry of Court Pride of Foxton No. 8385, branch of the Wellington District of the Ancient Order of Foresters Friendly Society, Register No. 144, held at Foxton, on the ground that the said branch has ceased to exist.

BOROUGH OF MATAURA.

IN THE MATTER OF THE RATING ACT, 1908, AND ITS AMENDMENTS.—DECLARATION OF POLL ON PROPOSAL TO ADOPT SYSTEM OF RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUES.

PURSUANT to section 39 of the Rating Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Mataura was taken on the 12th day of December, 1919, on the proposal that the system of rating property in the said borough be on the basis of the unimproved value thereof.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 118, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 145; informal, 5. The majority against the proposal was 27. I hereby declare that the proposal was rejected.

BOROUGH OF WAIHI.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and the Public Works Act, 1908.

IN pursuance of the provisions of the above-named Acts, the body corporate called the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Waihi hereby gives notice that it intends, in order to provide for the health, amusement, and instruction of the public, to take for the purposes of a public recreation and pleasure ground 76 acres and 30 perches of land, situated at the Waihi Beach, and to do all things incidental thereto for the purpose of providing such public recreation and pleasure ground; and for the purpose and object of so doing the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required and will require to be taken by the said Corporation under the provisions of the above Acts; and that a survey has been made and a plan prepared, signed by Moore Fenwick Haszard, of Waihi, Surveyor, showing such lands, together with the names of the owners and occupiers thereof, so far as they can be ascertained; and that a copy of such plan has been deposited in the office of the Town Clerk of the said Corporation at the Borough Council Chambers, Haszard Street, in the Borough of Waihi, the place directed by the said Corporation, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected are hereby required to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the execution of such work or the taking of such lands, and to send such writing, within forty days from the 20th day of December, 1919 (being the date of the first publication of this notice), to the Town Clerk, Waihi.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

UNDER THE MINING ACT, 1908.

APPLICATION FOR PERMISSION TO SHIFT INTAKE AND EXTEND COURSE OF A WATER-RACE.

PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1908, the undersigned, Bridget Kerin, of Hawea Flat, Otago, Widow, hereby applies for permission to shift intake and extend course of a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

SCHEDULE.

To shift intake of Water-race No. 4270/16.9.95, Renewal No. 63/16.9.10, from present point of intake in Section 44, Block I, Lower Hawea District, nine chains further up the bed of the Grandview Creek, and extend the course from present intake up to a point in Grandview Creek nine chains up the creek. This application is made with the consent in writing of Agnes Gray, Administratrix of Estate of Robert Gray, deceased, owner of said section.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Waipa County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £4,000, authorized to be raised by the Waipa County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of metalling roads in the Mangapiko Riding for the first time, the said Waipa County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/10d. in the pound upon the
