THE following notices, received from the Mayor of the
Borough of Dargaville, are published in accordance
with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

DARGAVILLE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Notices of Results of Polls on Proposals to raise Loans.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,
I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the
Borough of Dargaville taken on the 18th day of June, 1919,
on the proposal of the Dargaville Borough Council to borrow
the sum of £1,300 for the purpose of extending the water-
mains to Duck Creek, the number of votes recorded for the
proposal was 51, and the number of votes recorded against
the proposal was 27.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Dated this 20th day of June, 1919.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,
I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the
Borough of Dargaville taken on the 18th day of June, 1919,

to Duck Creek, the number of votes recorded for the proposal
was 53, and the number of votes recorded against the pro-

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops (other than
Pork-butcher’s Shops) in the Borough of Hamilton, under
the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops (other
than pork-butcher’s shops) in the Borough of Hamilton,
has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the
borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as
follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on
the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m.,
and on Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—
(1) the working-day immediately preceding any of the special
days mentioned in or within the meaning of section 19 of
the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, when the closing-hour shall
be 9 p.m.; (2) should the occupier of any shop affected by
this requisition observe Saturday as the statutory closing-
day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday
for any such shop shall be 6 p.m. and the closing-hour on
Friday shall be 9 p.m.:
And whereas the Hamilton Borough Council has certified
that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority
of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-
butchers’ shops) within the Borough of Hamilton:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister
of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that, on and after the 30th day
of June, 1919, all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-
butchers’ shops) in the Borough of Hamilton shall be closed
accordingly.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Hairdressers’ and Tobacconists’
Shops in the City of Auckland, under the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades
of (1) hairdresser and (2) tobacconist in the City of Auckland,
has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in
the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as
follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on
the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7 p.m., on Fridays
at 9 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10 p.m., with the following
exceptions—(1) the working-days (other than the days
observed as the statutory closing-days) in the period from
the 15th day of December to the 9th day of January of the
year following (both days inclusive), when the closing-hour
shall be 10 p.m.; (2) the working-day immediately preceding
any of the days mentioned in or within the meaning of
section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, when the
closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.; (3) should the occupier of any
shop affected by this requisition observe Saturday as the
statutory closing-day in any week, then and in such case
the closing-hour on Friday for any such shop in that week
shall be 10 p.m., and on Thursday shall be 9 p.m.; (4)
should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition
observe, pursuant to section 18 (b) of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, Friday as the statutory closing-day in any week,
then and in such case the closing-hour on Thursday for any
such shop in that week shall be 9 p.m.:
And whereas the Auckland City Council has certified that
the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of
the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1)
hairdresser and (2) tobacconist within the City of Auckland:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister
of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 30th day of
June, 1919, all the shops in each of the trades of (1) hair-
dresser and (2) tobacconist in the City of Auckland shall
be closed accordingly.
All existent notices fixing closing-hours of (1) hairdressers’
and (2) tobacconists’ shops in the City of Auckland are hereby
cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this
notice.

borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as
follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on
the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., on Fridays
at 9 p.m., and on Saturdays at 8 p.m., with the following
exceptions—(1) the working-day immediately preceding the
People’s Day at each of the shows held under the auspices of
the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society, and the
working-days in the period from the 20th December to the
31st December (both days inclusive), when there shall be no
fixed closing-hour; (2) the working-day immediately preced-
ing each of the special days mentioned in or within the
meaning of section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908,
when there shall be no fixed closing-hour; (3) should the
occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe,
pursuant to section 18 (b) of the Shops and Offices Act,
1908, Friday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such
case the closing-hour on Wednesday for any such shop shall
be 8 p.m., and the closing-hour on Saturday shall be 9 p.m.;
(4) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisi-
tion observe Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and
in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday for any such
shop shall be 8 p.m., and the closing-hour on Friday shall be
9 p.m.:
And whereas the Napier Borough Council has certified that
the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the
occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades of (1) hair-
dresser and (2) tobacconist within the Borough of Napier:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister
of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 30th day
of June, 1919, all the shops in each of the trades of (1) hair-
dresser and (2) tobacconist in the Borough of Napier shall be
closed accordingly.
The notices gazetted on the 12th day of August, 1915, are
hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of
this notice.
