Revoking War Regulations as to withholding Publication of Inventions and Designs on account of the War.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-fifth day of March, 1919.

Present:

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the War Regulations Act, 1914, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the two Orders in Council (relating to the withholding of the publication of inventions and designs) made under the said Act on the eighteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and the second day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and gazetted on the twenty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and the fifth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, respectively.

The Southern Side of Frederick Street, in the City of Christchurch, exempted from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this third day of April, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of a road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor-General in Council:

And whereas by subsection two of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, and clause (b) of subsection one of section thirteen of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, it is provided that such approval may be either absolute or subject to such conditions with respect to the building-line as the Governor-General by Order in Council thinks fit to impose, and may refer to one or both sides of the road or street:

And whereas the Christchurch City Council, the local authority having control of the street described in the Schedule hereto, hereinafter referred to as the said street, has passed the following resolution—viz., “That the Christchurch City Council, being the local authority having control of Frederick Street in the City of Christchurch, hereby declares that the provisions of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, shall not apply to the southern side of the said street”:

And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved in so far as it refers to the southern side of the said street:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Acts, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution to the extent hereinbefore mentioned.


SCHEDULE.

THE southern side of all that street in the Canterbury Land District, City of Christchurch, known as Frederick Street, situated between Osborne Street and Ensor’s Road. As the said street is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 45791, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

[Validating Proceedings in connection with a Loan of £450 proposed to be raised by the Franklin County Council.]

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this third day of April, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Franklin County Council, acting under and in pursuance of paragraph (e) of section sixteen of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, lately proposed to raise a loan of four hundred and fifty pounds for the purpose of forming and metalling Park Road, Papakura:

And whereas the ratepayers’ consent given under paragraph (e) of section sixteen aforesaid is irregular, in that one of the subscribing ratepayers has attested the signatures of the other subscribers thereto:

And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been misled by the said irregularity, and it is expedient to validate the same:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section one hundred and eleven of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the ratepayers’ consent to the raising of the said loan shall be valid to all intents and purposes as though the same had been properly witnessed, and that the validity of the proceedings in connection with the said loan shall not be called into question by reason only of the irregularity aforesaid.

Postmaster appointed to take and receive Statutory Declarations.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that

CARLEY ARTHUR REEVE,

being a person holding the office of Postmaster under the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, at Marokopa, is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-eighty-eighth section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.

As witness my hand this second day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
