Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Furniture and House-furnishing Shops in the City of Auckland, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the furniture and house-furnishing shops in the City of Auckland, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—(a) the evening of the working-day immediately preceding Good Friday, when the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.; (b) when the birthday of the reigning Sovereign or any other day which, pursuant to a Proclamation by the Governor-General or declaration by the Government, or on the request of the Mayor, is generally observed as a public holiday or half-holiday falls on a Friday, the closing-hour on the preceding Thursday shall be 9 p.m.; (c) the evening of the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the evening of the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.; (d) should the occupier of any shop bound by the provisions of this requisition observe, pursuant to the provisions of section 19 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, any of the days therein mentioned, and referred to in exception (b) above, as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour for any such shop on Saturday in that week shall be 6 p.m., and should such day fall on Friday the closing-hour for any such shop on Thursday in that week shall be 9 p.m.:
And whereas the Auckland City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the furniture and house-furnishing shops within the City of Auckland:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 9th day of April, 1919, all the furniture and house-furnishing shops in the City of Auckland shall be closed accordingly.
The notice gazetted on the 17th day of October, 1912, is hereby cancelled.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Butchers’ Shops (other than Pork-butchers’ Shops) in the Borough of Wanganui, under the Shops and Offices Act, 1908.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butchers’ shops) in the Borough of Wanganui, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to the closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory closing-day, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, at 5.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 6 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m.; (2) the working-day immediately preceding each of the following days, Good Friday, the birthday of the reigning Sovereign, and any day which pursuant to a Proclamation by the Governor-General or a declaration of the Government, or on the request of the Mayor, is generally observed as a public holiday, when the closing-hour shall be 6 p.m.; (3) should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Friday shall, subject to the above exceptions, be 6 p.m.:
And whereas the Wanganui Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butchers’ shops) within the Borough of Wanganui:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 9th day of April, 1919, all the butchers’ shops (other than pork-butchers’ shops) in the Borough of Wanganui shall be closed accordingly.
The notice gazetted on the 21st day of September, 1911, is hereby cancelled.

Alterations in Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1908, and its amendments, I, William Herbert Herries, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 7th day of April, 1919.
PART II.—LUGGAGE, PARCELS, HORSES, ETC.
PARCEL RATES. (PAGE 31.)
Cancel—
In addition to the above rates a charge of 3d. for each cwt. or part of a cwt. will be made upon all parcels consigned to Auckland, Wellington, Te Aro, Christchurch, Dunedin, or Invercargill.
Insert—
In addition to the above rates a charge of 6d. for each cwt. or part of a cwt. will be made upon all parcels consigned to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, or Invercargill.
