1919, on the proposal of the Thames Borough Council to borrow the sum of £14,000 for the following purpose: To refund to District Fund Account the amount expended for the carrying-out of works and repairs necessitated by flood damage, and to provide the amount required to do such further work as may be necessary to remedy and repair such flood damage.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 230, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 73; informal, 2.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Kawa Drainage Board was taken on the 13th day of November, 1919, on the proposal of the Kawa Drainage Board to borrow the sum of £2,000 for the purpose of widening, deepening, and improving drains in the Kawa Drainage District.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 12, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.

I hereby declare that the proposal is carried.

WHANGAREI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

IN pursuance of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and its amendments, public notice is hereby given that a poll of ratepayers of the special rating area known as the “Mangapai-Caves Special Rating Area” was held on the 3rd day of December, 1919, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £2,000 for purpose of metalling the Mangapai to Caves Road, and resulted as follows: Total number of votes recorded, 33; total number of votes in favour of proposal, 20; total number of votes against the proposal, 13; informal, nil.

And as there were more than three-fifths of the total number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal I therefore declare the proposal carried.

HUNGAHUNGA DRAINAGE BOARD.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Waiwero Special Rating Area within the Hungahunga Drainage District taken on the 1st day of December, 1919, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £3,500 for the purposes of land drainage—viz., to cleanse, widen, and deepen existing watercourses, drains, and outfalls, to take over from and pay compensation to the Piako County for outlet drains already constructed within the said area, and to make and construct new watercourses, drains, and outfalls—the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 38, the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 3, and the number of informal votes recorded was 1.

Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Wairere Special Rating Area within the Hungahunga Drainage District taken on the 1st day of December, 1919, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £1,300 for the purpose of land drainage—viz., to cleanse, widen, and deepen existing watercourses, drains, and outfalls—the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 24, the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 4, and the number of informal votes recorded was 1.

I therefore declare that the proposals were carried.

WAIMAIRI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Results of Polls on Proposals to raise Loans.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that polls of ratepayers were taken on the 18th day of November, 1919, on the proposals of the Waimairi County Council to borrow the sum of £6,000 to build a town hall and library in Papanui, and the sum of £10,000 to construct concrete channels and asphalting.

The results of the polls were as follows:—

Town hall and library: For, 162; against, 64; informal, 2; total, 228.

Channelling and asphalting: For, 87; against, 15; informal, 5; total, 107.

I therefore declare the proposals carried.

TAONUI RIDING.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Taonui Riding of the County of Kairanga taken on the 11th day of December, 1919, on the proposal of the Kairanga County Council to borrow the sum of £3,500 for the purpose of treating the Foxton Line Road with tar and bitumen, and widening the road so treated by a width of 20 ft., the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 195, the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 31, and the number of informal votes was 2.

TAONUI AND MANGAONE RIDINGS.

Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Mangaone and Taonui Ridings of the County of Kairanga taken on the 11th day of December, 1919, on the proposal of the Kairanga County Council to borrow the sum of £3,500 for the purpose of treating the Rangitikei Line Road surface with tar and bitumen, and widening the road so treated to a width of 20 ft., the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 353, the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 95, and informal votes 1.
