Amended Regulations.—Manual and Technical Instruction.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fifteenth day of December, 1919.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE SIR WILLIAM FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Education Act, 1914, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the amendment set out in the Schedule hereto in the regulations in force relating to manual and technical instruction, and doth prescribe that this Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
THE payments made by way of capitation for manual instruction in respect of school classes for the year ending the 31st day of December, 1919, under clauses 19 to 27 inclusive of the Regulations for Manual and Technical Instruction now in force, are hereby increased by 20 per cent.

Regulations for Manual and Technical Instruction.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this fifteenth day of December, 1919.

THE HONOURABLE SIR WILLIAM FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections one hundred and twenty-four and one hundred and twenty-five of the Education Act, 1914, as amended by section thirty-seven of the War Legislation and Statute Law Amendment Act, 1918, and by section eleven of the Education Amendment Act, 1919, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the consent and advice of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke clause one hundred and twelve of the Regulations for Manual and Technical Instruction made by Order in Council dated the thirtieth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto; and, with the like consent and advice, doth prescribe that the regulation in this Order shall be deemed to have been in force on and after the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS FOR MANUAL AND TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION.
- SUBJECT to compliance with these regulations, there shall be paid to the controlling authority for each technical high school recognized by the Minister having more than one hundred pupils in average attendance an annual grant of £500, and for such school having less than one hundred pupils in average attendance such annual grant, being not more than £500, as the Minister may determine; and, in addition, for each such school an annual grant at the rate of £10 for each pupil other than a free pupil, and £15 for each free pupil taking thereat an approved course and making not less than eight hundred hour-attendances in the year: Provided that—
(i.) The fee charged for admission to such approved course shall not exceed £5 per annum;
(ii.) Not more than two-thirds of the above grants shall be paid where there is less than the equivalent of one whole-time assistant for each twenty-five pupils in average attendance at the technical high school, or where less than four-fifths of the total grants for the school under this clause and under clauses 45 and 46 of these regulations is expended in the salaries of teachers.
