Revoking the Prohibition of the Importation of certain Goods.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of November, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section forty-six of the Customs Act, 1913, as extended by section two of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Amendment Act, 1915, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council, prohibit the importation into New Zealand of any goods the prohibition of the importation of which is in his opinion necessary in the public interest:

And whereas, in pursuance and exercise of the authority so conferred upon him, the Governor-General has, by the several Orders in Council hereinafter referred to, prohibited the importation into New Zealand of certain classes of goods:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is necessary in the public interest to revoke the said Orders in Council:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section forty-six of the Customs Act, 1913, and section two of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Amendment Act, 1915, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, doth hereby revoke the Orders in Council referred to in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
ORDERS IN COUNCIL REVOKED.

  1. ORDER in Council, dated the 16th August, 1916, and gazetted on 24th August, 1916, page 2825, prohibiting the importation of klepalo (cream of tartar substitute).

  2. Order in Council, dated the 27th November, 1916, and gazetted on 1st December, 1916, page 3706, prohibiting the importation of sanatogen.

  3. Order in Council, dated the 18th December, 1916, and gazetted on 21st December, 1916, page 3889, prohibiting the importation of gas-mantles manufactured in or exported from any place other than the United Kingdom or a British possession.

Validating Proceedings in connection with a Loan of £2,500 proposed to be raised by the Council of the County of Wanganui.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of November, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Wanganui County Council lately proposed to raise a loan of two thousand five hundred pounds, under the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of erecting a concrete bridge at Upokongaro;

And whereas section nine of the said Act provides that the notice of intention to raise the loan shall be published once in each week for four successive weeks:

And whereas the provisions of the said section were not complied with, inasmuch that the said notice of intention to raise the loan was not published once in each week for four successive weeks, in that the said publications appeared in the Wanganui Chronicle on the eighth, fifteenth, twenty-second, and twenty-fifth days of June of the year one thousand nine hundred and eighteen:

And whereas it appears that the ratepayers have not been misled by such irregularity, and it is expedient to validate the same:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section one hundred and eleven of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that the said notice of intention to raise the loan is hereby validated, and shall be valid to all intents and purposes as though the said publications had been made in the proper manner; and doth hereby order and declare that the proceedings relative to such loan shall not be called into question by reason only of the regularity aforesaid.

Extending Prohibition of Alienation of certain Native Land other than Alienation in favour of the Crown.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this fourteenth day of November, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, and by section one hundred and eleven of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1913 (as amended by section eight of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1916), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby extend for a further period of eighteen months the Order in Council dated the twenty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, and gazetted the thirtieth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, prohibiting all alienation of the Native land specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienation in favour of the Crown.

WHANGAIPEKE Block: Approximate area, 5,690 acres; Piopiotea and Maungaku Survey Districts.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of November, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit, for the period of one year from the date of this Order in Council, all alienation of the Native land specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienation in favour of the Crown.
