Prohibiting the Export of certain Goods.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of November, 1919.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section forty-seven of the Customs Act, 1913, as extended by section twenty-four of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, prohibit the exportation of any goods the prohibition of the exportation of which is in his opinion necessary in the public interest :

And whereas, in pursuance and exercise of the authority so conferred upon him, the Governor-General has, by the several Orders in Council hereinafter more particularly referred to, prohibited the exportation of certain classes of goods :

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is necessary in the public interest to revoke the said Orders in Council, and in lieu of the prohibitions therein contained to prohibit the exportation of the goods set forth in the Second Schedule hereto :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section forty-seven of the Customs Act, 1913, and section twenty-four of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Act, 1914, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, doth hereby revoke the Orders in Council referred to in the First Schedule hereto (prohibiting the export of the goods therein mentioned), and in lieu thereof doth, with the like advice and consent, prohibit to the extent set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, the exportation of the goods specified in that Schedule.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

GOODS THE EXPORTATION OF WHICH IS PROHIBITED TO ANY DESTINATION, EXCEPT WITH THE CONSENT OF THE MINISTER OF CUSTOMS.

Bags, bagging, sacks, sacking, and piecegoods of jute, hessian, or linen.

Butter.

Cattle.

Cheese.

Coal.

Cotton piecegoods suited for use as meat-wraps, cheese-cloths, and similar articles.

Frozen mutton and lamb ; chilled and frozen beef and veal.

Glue and gelatine.

Glue pieces, hide pieces, face pieces, leg pieces, hide trimmings, sinews, lugs, and similar goods for the manufacture of glue and gelatine.

Hides and calf-skins.

Leather belting.

Leather of all kinds, dressed or undressed.

Manures of every description.

Pigs, live.

Platinum ore, and platinum or platinum scrap in admixture with gold or otherwise.

Pork, bacon, and hams.

Potatoes.

Rennet.

Russian rouble notes.

Scrap-iron and scrap-steel.

Sheep.

Sheep-skins and pelts.

Tungsten and its alloys and compounds, also tungsten ores.

Wattle-bark.

Wheat, oats, and other cereals, also flour and oatmeal, crushed oats, rolled oats, and similar preparations.

Wool.

Regulations under the Repatriation Act, 1918.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this twenty-fifth day of February, 1919.

Present :

THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the authority conferred by section fifteen of the Repatriation Act, 1918, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion, doth hereby make the following regulations under that Act.

REGULATIONS.

  1. If any person, with intent to obtain for himself or for any other person financial assistance under the Repatriation Act, 1918, wilfully deceives or does any act with intention to deceive the Repatriation Board, or any district or local Board or committee established under that Act, or any officer of the Repatriation Department, he shall be guilty of an offence, and shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months.

  2. If any person having received financial assistance under the Repatriation Act, 1918, wilfully commits any breach of the conditions on which that assistance was granted, or wilfully uses any money so received by him for any purpose other than that for which it was granted to him, he shall be guilty of an offence, and shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to a fine not exceeding Β£20.

  3. If any person having purchased tools, equipment, or other chattels wholly or partly with moneys received by him by way of financial assistance under the Repatriation Act, 1918, sells, pledges, or otherwise disposes of such tools, equipment, or other chattels without the consent in writing of an officer of the Repatriation Department, he shall be guilty of an offence, and shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to a fine not exceeding Β£20.
