Regulations made under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and the Public Revenues Act, 1910.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of October, 1919.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section sixty-two of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and section ninety-six of the Public Revenues Act, 1910, and of all other powers authorizing him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and with the consent and advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following regulations, to take effect on the first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

REGULATIONS.

  1. THERE shall be an officer of the Public Trust Office called the Custodian of Deeds and Securities (hereinafter referred to as “the Custodian”).

  2. The Custodian shall be one of the Custodians of Securities of that office pursuant to the provisions of section 96 of the Public Revenues Act, 1910.

  3. The duties of the Custodian shall be—
    (a.) Those imposed upon him by Part XI of the Public Revenues Act, 1910, as one of the Custodians of the Securities of the Public Trust Office :
    (b.) The custody of documents of title (other than those affected by Part XI of the Public Revenues Act, 1910) held by the Public Trustee at the Head Office in Wellington :
    (c.) Such other duties as may from time to time be imposed on the Custodian by the Public Trustee.

  4. In case of the temporary absence from duty of the Custodian by reason of illness or any other cause, the Public Trustee may appoint some other person to carry out his duties during the period of such absence. Such person while so acting shall perform all the duties and may exercise all the powers of the Custodian.

  5. Clause 32 of the regulations made under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, on the 20th day of March, 1914, and gazetted on the 26th day of March, 1914, is hereby amended by substituting the words “the Assistant Chief Accountant” and “the Custodian of Deeds and Securities of the Public Trust Office” for the words “the Public Trustee” and “the Accountant of the Public Trust Office.”

Appointing Commissioners to classify Pastoral Runs in Canterbury Land District.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the two hundred and twenty-fifth section of the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

Commissioners to classify and report to me upon the rural lands in Canterbury Land District known as Runs Nos. 64 and 102, as provided by the said section two hundred and twenty-five.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this twenty-second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

Opening Otago University Endowment Reserves in Southland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Otago University Reserves Act, 1904, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the Otago University Endowment Reserves described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease for the term of sixty-six years, with right of renewal for successive periods of sixty-six years, on Monday, the nineteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule ; and I do also declare that the said endowment reserves shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SOUTHLAND COUNTY.—OTAGO UNIVERSITY ENDOWMENT.

Forest Hill Hundred.

Lot 1 of part Section 132, Block IV : Area, 733 acres 3 roods ; capital value, £1,090 ; half-yearly rent, £21 16s.

About 130 acres of swampy land. To the south of the road about 150 acres ploughable, the balance of the area being very poor, with patches of low manuka over it. Access by newly formed road partly metalled, two miles and a half from Hedgehope Railway-station.

Lot 2 of part Section 132, Block IV : Area, 976 acres ; capital value, £1,490 ; half-yearly rent, £29 16s.

About 190 acres good swampy land, with low dry ridges through it. About 160 acres south of road ploughable, the balance being very poor, with a little feed in the gullies. Access by formed road (partly metalled) from Hedgehope.

Forest Hill and Lindhurst Hundreds.

Lot 3 of part Section 132, Block IV, and part Section 5, Blocks I and VI : Area, 795 acres 1 rood ; capital value, £2,050 ; half-yearly rent, £41* ; half-yearly instalment on buildings, £19 10s.

250 acres swamp land of good quality. About 150 acres of lower-lying hills might be regarded as ploughable, the remainder being very poor except for a little feed in the gullies. Access by formed road (partly metalled) from Hedgehope, where there is a dairy factory and a school.

  • Instalment on buildings valued at £500, consisting of house, shearing-shed, and cow-byre, which may be paid for by cash or repaid in twenty-one years by half-yearly instalments of £19 10s. each ; total half-yearly payment on lease for Lot 3, £60 10s.

175 chains of fencing valued at £100 is included in the capital value of Lot 3.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

The land is suitable for mixed farming. A portion of the area to the north adjoining the Hedgehope Stream is subject to flood. Outfall ditches have been cut through the swampy land on the three lots.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this fourteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen.

Opening National Endowment Land in North Auckland Land District for Selection by Discharged Soldiers on Renewable Lease.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment land described in the Schedule hereto, which has been set apart for selection by discharged soldiers, shall be open for selection by discharged soldiers on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twentieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule ; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.
